Job Description:

The substance use disorder (SUD) Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing clinical services at an outpatient substance abuse clinic in Baltimore, Maryland. The supervisor is legally responsible for adherence to all applicable licensing, supervision, billing, documentation requirements and overseeing the timeliness and quality of a staff member’s clinical work while ensuring compliance with Maryland state regulations and best practices in SUD treatment. The supervisor plays a key role in maintaining high standards of care and supporting the clinic’s mission to help individuals achieve recovery.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Supervision and Oversight:

Supervision of clinical staff that includes meeting on a bi-weekly basis with counselors and peer recovery specialist to supervise; assessment of clients; formulation and implementation of goal plans; day to day case management function; timely completion of required forms and paperwork. Will provide client coverage in the absence of social worker/therapist, as able.

Ensure all client treatment plans and documentation meet COMAR (Code of Maryland Regulations) standards and clinic policies.

Conduct regular case reviews and oversee the delivery of evidence-based interventions.

Monitor caseloads and ensure that supervisees comply with all agency and clinical, legal, and ethical practices.

Review and co-sign supervisees’ progress notes, clinical forms and correspondences when indicated.

Provides ongoing, regular feedback and evaluation to clinicians on the quality and timeliness of their clinical work as well as their caseload. Also solicits feedback from clinicians regarding supervision and whether needs are being met.

Ensures that clinicians comply with all legal and ethical practices.

Staff Development and Training:

Train and mentor clinical staff to maintain licensure, certifications, and competency in substance use treatment.

Facilitate workshops on topics such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care.

Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback during evaluations.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Maintain compliance with Maryland regulations, Medicaid requirements, and CARF standards.

Audit clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to ethical guidelines.

Assist with the development and implementation of clinic policies and procedures.

Client Care and Crisis Management:

Oversee client assessments, treatment planning, and discharge processes.

Provide direct client services, including crisis intervention, as needed.

Collaborate with external agencies and community partners to ensure continuity of care.

Program Development and Administration:

Work closely with the Clinic Director to evaluate program outcomes and implement improvements.

Participate in grant applications, contract compliance, and reporting to funding agencies.

Support the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of clinical staff.

Other Duties:

Responsible for fulfilling the administrative and clinical requirements under COMAR 10.21.17.

In collaboration with the Clinical Director, ED and the COO are responsible for ensuring staff compliance with credentialing and privilege.

Communicates any concerns about quality of clinician’s work to the Executive Director in a timely manner.

Participates in staff meetings, administrative program meetings and trainings as required.

Contributes to 90 day and annual performance evaluations of clinicians.

Must be available for crisis consultation and management.

Helps clinicians identify professional development goals for the year and collaboratively monitors progress toward those goals.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
