Full Job Description

Commercial Utility Contractor based in Austin has immediate openings for Heavy Haul Truck Driver & Equipment Operator

Job Description:

Applicant would drive a gasoline or diesel truck transporting equipment and supplies from multiple jobsites around the Central Texas area. The applicant would need to be able to perform the tasks below unassisted and efficiently.

Licenses and Certifications: Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Duties and Responsibilities

· Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle.

· Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.

· Pick-up and safely transport heavy equipment to the intended destination.

· Operating heavy equipment to load trucks at times.

· Ensure loads are properly secured in accordance with FMCSA/DOT standards to prevent damage/injury.

· Stay on task to ensure timely transport and delivery.

· Communicate with Operations and crews as needed.

· Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the assigned transported equipment/material.

· Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.

· Check weather conditions and road reports before departure.

· Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.

· Maintain trucks per DOT and FMCSA standards and report needed services to Operations (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)

· Notify managers of any delivery issues encountered.

· Follow delivery schedule and report to work ready to work.

· Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.

· Track and report working hours.

· Adhere to company rules and regulations.

· Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions.

· Comply with DOT regulations.

· Always make safety a priority.

· Other duties as assigned by Operations or Management.

Skills/Qualifications

· Valid Class A CDL required.

· At least 3 years of heavy haul experience

· Working knowledge of heavy construction equipment

· Working knowledge of equipment operation and safe practices for loading/unloading

· Working knowledge of tie down requirements and working load limits for equipment and cargo.

· Must be able to work 14-hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as allowed by FMCSA HOS Rules.

· Basic knowledge of overweight/oversize permitting

· Clean driving record with no moving violations.

· Must pass a background check and drug test.

· Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles.

· Alert, focused, and detail oriented.

· Comfortable with long-haul transport and operating in tight, narrow city streets.

· Proficient in using GPS and other routing systems.

· Shall have acceptable record in FMCSA Clearinghouse

· Map reading and route planning experience.

· Self-starter who works well independently.

· Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.

Education and Experience

· High school diploma/GED preferred.

· At least 2 years of heavy haul experience.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

· High-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations.

· Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 decibels

Physical Demands:

· Must have physical strength and endurance.

· Prolonged periods of sitting in a truck.

· Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds at times.

· Repetitive hand/arm/leg movements

· Must be able to work at various heights.

· Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel in limited space in cab of vehicle.

· Must be able to climb on and off equipment to operate.

Benefits:
