Full Job Description

Full-Time Assistant Financial Director

Broadmoor United Methodist Church is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Financial Director to join our team. This full-time position works closely with the Church Controller to support the financial operations of the church while ensuring accuracy, accountability, and compliance with conference, state, and federal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Church Controller with the day-to-day financial operations of the church.
Process and maintain accounts payable and payroll.
Assist with general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations.
Manage designated funds and donor records with accuracy and confidentiality.
Prepare financial reports and assist with budget reporting and analysis.
Support audit preparation and coordinate documentation as needed.
Perform additional accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
CPA designation is a plus.

Experience

Seven to ten years of professional experience in accrual-based accounting and account reconciliation.
Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger management, payroll, and investment accounting.
Experience coordinating audits and maintaining strong internal financial controls.
Experience with nonprofit and/or church accounting, including fund accounting and reporting, is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with ACS Financial Software and Planning Center is helpful.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
