Job Overview

The Watermark Baton Rouge, located at 150 Third St, is now looking for an Executive Chef.

We are seeking an energetic and highly skilled Executive Chef to lead our culinary team and elevate our food service operations. In this dynamic role, you will oversee all aspects of kitchen management, menu development, food quality, and safety standards. Your leadership will inspire creativity and excellence in every dish served, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for culinary innovation, strong team management skills, and extensive experience in fine dining, catering, and restaurant environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape our culinary vision while maintaining operational efficiency and high standards of food safety.

Duties

Lead and supervise the culinary team, fostering a positive and productive work environment
Develop innovative menus that align with brand standards and customer preferences
Oversee food production, preparation, and presentation to ensure quality and consistency
Manage inventory control, food safety sanitizing procedures, and cost control measures
Coordinate catering events, banquets, and special functions with attention to detail and guest satisfaction
Implement food handling protocols in compliance with health regulations and safety standards
Monitor kitchen operations during shifts, ensuring smooth workflow and timely service
Conduct regular training on food safety, sanitation procedures, and culinary techniques
Collaborate with management on staffing schedules, shift management, and performance evaluations

Experience

Proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar leadership role within the food industry
Extensive background in fine dining, catering, banquet service, or restaurant management
Demonstrated supervisory experience managing diverse culinary teams
Strong knowledge of food production processes, menu planning, and kitchen management systems
Familiarity with inventory management tools and cost control strategies
Experience with dietary department requirements and accommodating special dietary needs
Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and health regulations
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple priorities effectively

Our one of a kind hotel is a part of the Marriott’s Autograph Collection and boasts of a historic classic design both inside and out. Built as Baton Rouge's first "skyscraper" in the 1927, our iconic building started out as the headquarters for Louisiana Trust & Savings Bank.
