Full Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Assist in the implementation of programs to promote health and nutrition for neighbors using our food resources across our 8-county service area.

· Work with community partners and food bank staff to pilot innovative projects; building program models based on project objectives and funding guidelines.

· Build partnerships with community-based and healthcare organizations committed to health equity in under-resourced communities.

· Support food-as-medicine initiatives by coordinating participant tracking, program logistics, food sourcing, partner communication, and reporting.

· Coordinate reporting and compliance for various grant-funded programs and activities.

· Continue updates to nutrition ranking guidelines for food procurement.

· Travel to various healthcare and community partners to aid in programming.

· Handle project timeframes and meet deadlines.

· Represent the South Michigan Food Bank at various community groups and meetings.

· Assist with community events as needed (health fairs, program partner presentations, etc.)

· Assist with department or agency-wide events, as requested.

· Assist with stocking and distributing food, coordinating deliveries, assisting neighbors with resource navigation, and facilitating smooth program operations.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Associate degree or two-year experience in nonprofit programs, public health, health promotion, project management, or a related field preferred.

· A valid driver’s license, a reliable car, and insurance.

· Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard office equipment.

· Demonstrated customer relationship management and partnership development skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of organizations, from health systems to community organizations, progressing relationships from a sole focus on food distribution to advancing a culture of community nutrition and health.

· Detail-oriented.

· Strong analytical skills.

· Ability to solve problems creatively.

· Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, and offsite

· ServSafe Certified or the ability to be certified.

· Strong writing, graphic presentation, and editing skills for the creation of program materials.

· Experience in program development/project coordination and the ability to meet deadlines while working multiple projects.

Work Environment

· Work is partially performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer for extended periods.

· Periodically walks through the facility to communicate with staff.

· Occasionally works outside regular working hours and drives a personal vehicle for business purposes.

· Periodically works outside the food bank at healthcare partner sites, which may include standing for prolonged periods, lifting, and moving various program supplies from 20 -40 lbs.

-Occasionally works at partner sites, coordinating food deliveries.

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
