The Arc of the Ozarks is seeking a Community Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care, clinical guidance, education and oversight for individuals with developmental disabilities.

As a Community RN with The Arc of the Ozarks, you'll play an important role in supporting the health, safety, independence and quality of life of individuals with developmental disabilities.
You'll work with individuals, families and guardians, physicians, direct support professionals and agency teams to coordinate care, monitor health needs and provide clinical guidance.
Your nursing knowledge and clinical judgment will help ensure individuals receive appropriate care while supporting the staff who work with them every day.
Provide nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing care and counseling for individuals who are ill, injured or experiencing changes in their health.
Provide monthly assessments to evaluate health concerns and identify changes in health status.
Coordinate and assist with the delivery of health care plans with members of each individual's support team.
Monitor the application of physicians' orders, including treatments, procedures, laboratory work, appointments, specialized diets and adaptive equipment.
Monitor and document changes in health status, needs and identified concerns
Serve as a liaison between physicians, medical professionals, individuals, families/guardians and Arc staff.

Medication & Delegated Nursing Services
Oversee medication administration by certified Medication Aides, including review of physician orders, medication administration records, staff documentation, technique and medication storage.
Oversee delegated nursing tasks performed by direct support staff.
Ensure staff are appropriately educated, trained and demonstrate competency before performing delegated nursing tasks.
Provide medication administration instruction in accordance with Missouri Department of Mental Health guidelines.
Conduct specialized training and certifications for direct support staff based on the medical needs of individuals, including areas such as insulin, catheter and feeding tube care.
Education, Quality & Oversight
Provide direction, training and oversight of medical practices and procedures conducted by Arc staff.
Educate staff, individuals and families about health care and illness prevention.
Conduct periodic visits to programs and residences to review medical records and monitor medical practices.
Complete required nursing documentation and records.
Support quality-control activities related to nursing care and delegated services.
Communicate with agency management and support teams regarding medical needs and appropriate treatment.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
This position participates in an after-hours on-call rotation approximately five weekends per year. This is an on-call responsibility rather than a regularly scheduled weekend shift.
You may also receive occasional after-hours calls from individuals on your caseload for telephone consultation.
Location: Springfield, Missouri. Most of your caseload will be in the Springfield area, with community-based travel to surrounding communities as needed.
Travel: Travel to surrounding communities such as Mountain Grove, Bolivar and Marshfield may be required. Occasional travel to other Arc of the Ozarks locations (Monett, Joplin, KC, St Louis) while rare, may also be needed. When overnight travel is required, accommodations are provided. A fleet vehicle or mileage reimbursement is available for eligible work travel.
Starting Pay: $72,400 annually.
Experienced Pay: Additional compensation is available based on relevant experience.
Sign-On Bonus: $5,000, paid in three increments at 90 days, 6 months, and 9 months.
Administer medications and insulin injections as required.

Nursing Documentation, Education and Quality Control
Provides direction, training, and oversight of all medical practices and procedures conducted by the staff of the Arc.
Responsible for educating about health care and the prevention of illness to the staff, persons served, and his or her family.
Oversees all functions of medication administration by certified Medication Aides, including but not limited to monthly review of physicians orders, medication administration record, staff documentation, and periodic inspection of technique and skill of each certified aide delegated to pass medications, procedures, and medication storage.
Oversees all functions of delegated nursing tasks to direct support staff.
For each task delegated, the nurse assures the person performing the task has been educated/trained and demonstrates competency; the nurse provides necessary documentation and periodic inspection of the assigned task as recommended by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
Monitors the application of all physicians' orders including but not limited to treatments, procedures, labs, appointments, specialized diets, and adaptive equipment for each person served.
Maintains communication with agency management and habilitation teams, reporting and documenting all changes in the health status, needs, and identified deficiencies in the standard of care provided to persons served.
Acts as a liaison between physicians, other medical personnel, parents and guardians of persons served by the Arc, persons served, and Arc program staff regarding the medical needs and appropriate treatment required for persons served.
Provides medication administration instruction to employees and others assigned in medication administration classes according to the guidelines and content prescribed, and approved, by the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
Conducts specialized training classes and certifications for direct support staff such as insulin, catheter, feeding tube, etc. according to the medical needs of persons served.
Client Care and Support of Individuals
Provides assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing care, and counsel of persons who are ill, injured, or experiencing alterations in normal health processes.
Responsible for the coordination and assistance in the delivery of a plan of health care with all members of the team of the persons served.
Provides a monthly assessment of each person served to evaluate health concerns and identify changes in their health status.
Provides an average of 1.25 hours of nursing time to each person served in residential services. Documents monthly expended time and activity for auditing purposes.
Conducts periodic visits to facilities and programs conducted by the Arc in order to review the medical records of persons served as well as to monitor the medical practices of the facility or program.
Provides periodic screenings for tardive dyskinesia and other observed side effects as a result of psychotropic medication.
