Derryberry's Mechanical Contractors is a family-owned and operated mechanical contracting and service company specializing in commercial HVAC, Plumbing, and Site Utilities in the Greater South East Texas area. Derryberry's has been one of Houston's most trusted mechanical contractors since 1983. The team at Derryberry's is known for their remarkable ability to install, service, and maintain a wide range of commercial building systems, ensuring quality services at a competitive rate.

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanical Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning systems, including hydronic piping systems, with the ability to estimate new construction, remodel, and retrofit projects efficiently.

Responsibilities

Work with a team to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial HVAC systems.
Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
Collaborate with GC’s Pre-construction teams, engineers, and subcontractors.
Utilize digital tools for takeoffs and estimating.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely execution of HVAC projects.
Utilize software tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud for project documentation and construction management and Trimble Auto-Bid.
Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost control on projects.
Maintain clear communication with clients regarding project status and any necessary updates.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in commercial HVAC estimating or similar role in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical drawings.
Must have a strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems such as Hydronic Cooling and Heating systems, DX systems, VRF Systems, Unitary Systems, variable air volume systems and more.
Familiarity with AIA construction management practices and project management principles.
Experience with Trimble AutoBid Mechanical is required.
Excellent negotiation skills for contract discussions with subcontractors, vendors and clients.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship.

Compensation:

Salary starting at 75k or more based on experience.
Commission and Discretionary Performance Bonus
