Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthodontist to join our healthcare team in to serve with the U.S. Military. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to provide comprehensive orthodontic care within a dynamic military healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in orthodontics, demonstrate excellent patient communication skills, and be committed to delivering high-quality dental services in accordance with military and civilian standards. The role involves diagnosing, planning, and implementing orthodontic treatments to improve patient oral health and aesthetics while adhering to strict medical and dental regulations.

Duties

Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical and dental histories, clinical examinations, and diagnostic imaging using advanced medical imaging techniques.
Develop individualized treatment plans for orthodontic cases, including braces, aligners, retainers, and other corrective appliances.
Perform orthodontic procedures such as bracket placement, adjustments, and removal with precision and aseptic technique.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care involving pediatrics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and anesthesiology when necessary.
Maintain accurate medical documentation and dental records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and state healthcare laws.
Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic, Eaglesoft, Dentrix for charting, scheduling, billing, and treatment documentation.
Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed to prevent cross-contamination during procedures.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment options, and post-treatment care to promote optimal outcomes.
Manage dental fabrication processes for appliances and restorations ensuring quality control.
Stay current with advancements in orthodontics through continuing education and professional development.

Experience

Proven experience as an Orthodontist with a minimum of three years practicing in a clinical setting; experience within a military or government healthcare environment is preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix.
Extensive knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental diagnosis techniques, and medical terminology related to oral health.
Familiarity with general dentistry procedures including dental extractions, root canal therapy, dental implants, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques applicable in dental clinics.
Experience performing complex orthodontic treatments involving appliances like braces or clear aligners.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations across age groups including pediatrics.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards along with state healthcare regulations governing military medical facilities.
Skilled in client communication to explain diagnoses and treatment plans clearly while fostering trust.
