Position Overview
B & E Resources, LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Controls / Scheduler to support the planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and performance reporting of industrial construction and fabrication projects. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining integrated project schedules, monitoring progress and cost performance, identifying trends and risks, and providing timely, accurate information to project leadership for informed decision-making.
The Senior Project Controls / Scheduler will work closely with Project Managers, Operations, Estimating, Procurement, Finance, and field leadership to establish project baselines, track performance, forecast outcomes, and support successful project execution. This role operates in a fast-paced environment and requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, technical scheduling expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
Develops, maintains, and updates detailed project schedules for industrial construction, fabrication, and related project activities.
Builds resource-loaded and logic-driven schedules that incorporate engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities, as applicable.
Establishes schedule baselines, work breakdown structures, calendars, activity coding, milestones, and sequencing in coordination with project teams.
Collects progress updates from project teams and field personnel and incorporates actual progress, remaining durations, and forecast dates into project schedules.
Performs critical path, float, schedule variance, and delay analysis to identify risks and potential impacts to project milestones and completion dates.
Develops schedule recovery plans, what-if scenarios, and mitigation strategies in collaboration with project leadership.
Ensures schedules accurately reflect contractual requirements, project execution plans, and current field conditions.
Project Controls & Cost Management
Supports development and maintenance of project control systems for budget, commitments, actual costs, forecasts, and change management.
Monitors project cost and schedule performance against approved baselines and identifies variances, trends, and emerging risks.
Assists Project Managers with cost-to-complete forecasts, estimate-at-completion projections, cash flow planning, and periodic project reviews.
Integrates schedule and cost information to provide a comprehensive view of project performance and forecasted outcomes.
Supports earned value, productivity, and progress measurement processes when required by the project or client.
Tracks approved and pending changes and evaluates potential schedule and cost impacts.
Progress Measurement & Reporting
Prepares weekly and monthly project controls reports, including schedule status, milestone performance, cost trends, forecast information, and key project risks.
Develops dashboards, look-ahead schedules, progress curves, manpower forecasts, and other project performance reports for management and clients.
Validates reported progress against supporting documentation and coordinates with field and project teams to resolve discrepancies.
Communicates schedule and cost concerns clearly and proactively to Project Managers and other stakeholders.
Participates in project review meetings and presents project controls information, trends, risks, and recommended corrective actions.
Change Management & Risk
Supports evaluation and documentation of change orders, delays, scope changes, and other events affecting project cost or schedule.
Maintains accurate records of schedule revisions, baseline changes, progress updates, and supporting project controls documentation.
Assists with time-impact analyses, schedule narratives, and supporting documentation for client discussions and change management.
Identifies project risks and opportunities and supports development of mitigation or recovery strategies.
Cross-Functional Support
Partners with Project Management, Operations, Estimating, Procurement, Finance, and field teams to ensure project data is timely, accurate, and aligned.
Provides scheduling and project controls guidance to project teams and supports consistent application of company standards and processes.
Coordinates with clients, subcontractors, and vendors as needed to obtain schedule information, validate progress, and align project milestones.
Supports project startup, execution, closeout, and lessons-learned activities from a project controls perspective.
Process Improvement
Identifies opportunities to improve scheduling, forecasting, progress measurement, and project reporting processes.
Develops and maintains project controls templates, procedures, reporting tools, and documentation.
Supports implementation and optimization of project management, scheduling, and reporting systems.
Mentors project team members and less-experienced schedulers or project controls personnel as needed.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive project scheduling, project controls, or related experience in industrial construction, fabrication, EPC, or a similar project environment preferred.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining complex, logic-driven project schedules from baseline through project completion.
Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 required; experience with Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools is beneficial.
Strong knowledge of critical path methodology, schedule development, progress measurement, forecasting, change management, and project controls best practices.
Experience with cost control, budgeting, forecasting, earned value concepts, and project performance reporting preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience working with ERP, project management, business intelligence, or reporting systems preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate project information effectively to field teams, project managers, clients, and senior leadership.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced, in-office environment.
Work Environment
This position is an in-office role based at the B & E Resources corporate office in Beaumont, Texas, with periodic travel to project sites and other company locations as business needs require.
This role requires frequent interaction with executives, Project Management, Operations, field leadership, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal support departments and demands a high level of professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and confidentiality.
