HVAC Manager

Location: Fairborn, OH | Employment Type: Full-Time | Department: HVAC Operations

We are small family-owned and operated residential HVAC and plumbing contractor. Wind Bender has been in business for over 21 years and under new ownership for the past 3 years. Under this new leadership, the company is focused on sustainable growth, building a business the right way without lying to customers or using high-pressure sales tactics, all while maintaining the highest standards for quality craftsmanship.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HVAC technician to lead daily service and installation operations, supervise technicians, ensure high-quality workmanship, and deliver excellent customer service. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong technical HVAC knowledge, proven team management experience, and the ability to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and compliant with safety and quality standards. This position is a first for Wind Bender, therefore you will work directly with the owner to build out key operational improvement programs including: 1) a new training center at the company’s shop and 2) an inventory management system.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead, schedule, coach, and support HVAC technicians, installers, apprentices, and subcontractors.

· Oversee residential and/or commercial HVAC service, repair, maintenance, and installation work.

· Review work orders, job progress, technician productivity, callbacks, and customer satisfaction metrics.

· Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards.

· Provide technical troubleshooting support for complex HVAC issues in the field.

· Manage customer escalations and resolve service concerns professionally and promptly.

· Coordinate equipment, parts, inventory, tools, fleet needs, and vendor relationships.

· Support estimating, job planning, project coordination, and labor forecasting as needed.

· Train team members on safety procedures, technical standards, customer communication, and company processes.

· Track operational performance and provide regular updates to leadership.

Qualifications

· 10+ years of HVAC field experience, with prior lead technician, supervisor, service manager, or operations management experience preferred.

· Strong working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, controls, diagnostics, and installation practices.

· EPA Section 608 certification required; additional state/local licenses or NATE certification preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage schedules, prioritize work, and hold team members accountable.

· Excellent communication, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

· Ability to read and interpret work orders, manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.

· Familiarity with dispatching, field service software, inventory systems, or CRM platforms preferred.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

· Ability to participate in after-hours support or on-call rotation during peak periods as needed.

Schedule
