Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Controller to join our executive finance team. This position plays a key leadership role in supporting the Controller with the financial management and administrative operations of the company. The Assistant Controller will help oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, cash management, and compliance while contributing to the company's continued growth and long-term financial success.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional organizational skills, strong accounting knowledge, and the ability to lead multiple financial initiatives in a fast-paced construction environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist the Controller in directing the daily operations of the Accounting Department.
Support the oversight of accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, cost accounting, tax compliance, auditing, insurance administration, information technology coordination, long-range financial planning, real estate administration, and human resources support functions.
Analyze, consolidate, and oversee cost accounting procedures and financial reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
Assist in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support strategic decision-making.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
Manage, monitor, and safeguard company assets, including cash management and banking relationships.
Assist in managing credit, collections, accounts receivable, and cash flow while serving as the primary backup to the Controller.
Coordinate external relationships with auditors, tax advisors, financial institutions, insurance providers, payroll administrators, and other financial partners.
Assist with year-end audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
Provide financial guidance and support to company leadership and department managers.
Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
Conduct all business activities with the highest level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
MBA, CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting designation is highly preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience.
Construction accounting experience strongly preferred.
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and project accounting is highly desirable.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with QuickBooks accounting software or comparable ERP/accounting systems.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
