Job Overview

Spork Island Trading Company, one of the most unique restaurants around is looking to hire an assistant general manager to assist the GM/owner. We are looking for an energetic, creative, outgoing person who is committed to the service industry. Spork Island is more than just a restaurant and bar. We are looking for someone to make sure guests have an enhanced restaurant dining and drinking experience. Making guests feel welcome and treated like a VIP is an everyday goal at Spork Island. Most of the work will involve FOH roles but some coordination with our chef in the BOH. In addition to regular restaurant operations, we are looking for an individual who can help create new experiences and help promote the restaurant. We have a great team and we are looking for someone to jump in and lead through action.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring high standards of service, food quality, and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
Lead and motivate staff through effective training, coaching, and team management to foster a positive work environment.
Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste through efficient food management practices.
Supervise food preparation and kitchen activities to ensure compliance with food safety standards and proper handling procedures.
Handle POS systems such as Toast POS for order processing, cash handling, and sales reconciliation with accuracy.
Assist in shift management by coordinating schedules, managing customer flow during busy hours, and resolving any operational issues promptly.
Ensure exceptional customer service by addressing guest inquiries or concerns swiftly and professionally.
Participate in staff hiring processes including interviewing candidates to build a strong hospitality team aligned with company values.
Assist with reservation requests.

Experience

Proven experience in restaurant management or assistant manager roles within fast food or casual dining environments.
Experience supervising teams in hospitality settings with skills in staff training and development.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and food industry best practices including inventory control and food handling standards.
Excellent managerial communication skills combined with leadership qualities that inspire teams to perform at their best.
