Full Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Manager, full-time

Location: Snohomish County

Reports to: Firm Leadership

FLSA status: Non-exempt

Travel: <5%

Hourly Pay Range: $48.00 to $63.00, DOE

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to join a rapidly growing law firm in beautiful Snohomish County to oversee accounting operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data and reporting. The ideal candidate will be a highly engaged, self-motivated professional with strong technical accounting expertise, advanced Excel and database skills, and have an exceptional attention to detail. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and a desire for continued growth with possible upward advancement. This is a highly collaborative team that values strong working relationships, good communication, and accountability. This on-site position will work closely with Firm leadership, having a meaningful impact on the organization.

Primary Responsibilities and Skills:

Responsible for documenting accounting policies and procedures and maintaining proper and effective internal controls.
Maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and ensure accurate financial records.
Responsible for reconciling all balance sheet accounts and preparing monthly financial statements.
Prepare various management reports, analyze metrics, and discuss with Firm leadership as needed.
Attend Firm leadership meetings and present financial position and results.
Collaborate with Firm leadership on annual budget and prepare periodic budget-to-actual reports.
Balance bank accounts daily and perform monthly reconciliations for all operating and trust bank accounts. Prepare deposit documentation for credit card receipts.
Manage the full accounts payable process, including entering Firm and client expenses, processing checks and electronic payments.
Ensure compliance with trust accounting requirements at all times. Process check requests, wire transfers, and client refunds via check and credit card.
Enter credit card charges and reconcile credit card statements monthly.
Calculate and remit monthly B&O taxes.
Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for all employees including bonuses calculations.
Administer employee benefit enrollments, coordinate with benefit providers, and prepare the annual benefits census.
Perform employee onboarding procedures including the setup of new employees within the Firm's practice management system.
Prepare information for the annual 401(k) census.
Coordinate and facilitate information for annual income tax return preparation with the Firm’s outside CPA.
Assist with insurance renewal applications.
Assist Firm leadership with other accounting support as needed.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting education and professional experience
Minimum of five years of professional accounting experience required
Previous experience in a law firm is highly preferred
Proficiency with Tabs and Paylocity a plus
