Position Summary

The Clinical Research Coordinator / Audiologist provides advanced clinical and scientific support for the Hear Gene Connect study. This part-time role supports a national research study focused on inherited hearing loss through community outreach, participant enrollment, audiology testing, clinical research coordination, regulatory documentation, data quality oversight, research analysis, and scientific publication activities.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders Sciences and Services or related field.
Doctoral degree in Audiology (AuD) or related discipline required/preferred based on licensing requirements.

Certifications & Licenses

Current state license to perform audiology testing.
Audiology certification preferred.
Clinical research certification such as CCRC or ACRP preferred.

Required Skills

Knowledge of audiology and clinical research practices.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed research records.
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret clinical research data.
Knowledge of clinical trial site identification and evaluation.
Ability to implement clinical trial site action plans.
Knowledge of research protocols, SOPs, and Good Clinical Practice.
Ability to prepare scientific reports, presentations, and manuscripts.

Software

Statistical analysis software such as SPSS, R, or SAS.
Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS).
Image analysis and data extraction software.
Research database and data management systems.
Manuscript and scientific publication tools.
Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent productivity software.

Key Responsibilities

Support clinical staff in developing, implementing, and maintaining clinical research data files and study materials.
Prepare and submit accurate source documents related to research procedures.
Maintain and update Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulatory documentation.
Assist with research protocol development, documentation, and operations.
Assist researchers with study testing, observations, data entry, and study sessions.
Verify participant information and collect clinical testing results.
Maintain regulatory binders and essential study documentation.
Perform accurate and timely data analysis and report research findings.
Respond to sponsor data queries and maintain data quality.
Enter study data into research databases, systems, and applications.
Assist with developing and editing clinical research protocols and informed consent forms.
Review protocols, case report forms, and manuals of operations for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare research spreadsheets, letters, rosters, agendas, presentations, and meeting materials.
Collect research data from patient charts, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, and diagnostic testing.
Assist with the collection and analysis of research data and samples.
Monitor participant progress and report adverse events according to study requirements.
Assist with progress reports and contributions to peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts.
Support researchers in obtaining IRB approval before study activities begin.
Assist with research study initiation, protocol implementation, and operating procedures.
Maintain current and newly developed research protocols.
Maintain content on clinical study websites and web-based research tools.
Assist with submission of protocol packages, actions, and applications through designated IRB and protocol management systems.
Maintain protocol applications within research management databases.
Update recruitment and enrollment information in applicable human subjects reporting systems.
Support daily study coordination and ensure activities comply with protocols, SOPs, approved forms, and Good Clinical Practice.
Assist with community outreach and participant enrollment activities for inherited hearing loss research.
Support quality control of audiology testing and clinical research data.
Provide training and educational support to new research coordinators and research staff.
Mentor research staff on Good Clinical Practice and study procedures.
Prepare informational and educational materials supporting the study.
