Position Summary
A Team Lead provides an exceptional purchasing experience by delivering personalized, knowledgeable customer service and supporting daily retail operations. This role is responsible for maintaining a welcoming and compliant environment, guiding customers through their purchasing decisions, and ensuring team members deliver consistent, high-quality service.
Team Leads play a critical leadership role by supervising staff, delegating responsibilities, supporting inventory processes, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements. This position serves as a key bridge between frontline staff and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service – Sales
- Provide exceptional, compassionate, and knowledgeable service to customers, employees, and visitors
- Deliver a personalized customer experience by recommending products suited to individual needs
- Greet customers, answer phones, and respond to emails and customer inquiries
- Accurately process transactions using the POS and inventory systems
- Maintain proper cash handling and auditing procedures
- Create and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming sales environment, including displays, menus, and materials
Customer Service – Inventory
- Weigh, package, and label products during customer transactions
- Ensure all products meet State requirements for packaging, labeling, and testing
- Restock inventory from backstock and maintain accurate system records
- Support organization and accuracy of inventory to prevent discrepancies
Compliance
- Verify valid identification for all customers and properly record medical patient information when applicable
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations
- Enforce company policies, security procedures, and loss prevention measures
- Maintain accurate documentation and adherence to compliance standards
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervisor – Sales
- Perform opening and closing procedures, including cash drawer audits, daily sales reconciliation, and facility readiness
- Oversee cleanliness, organization, and customer-facing presentation of the store
- Train and coach Customer Service Associates on customer service standards, product knowledge, sales techniques, and POS procedures
- Provide leadership during shifts to drive sales performance and service consistency
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
Supervisor – Inventory
- Assist management with inventory audits using the State Cannabis Tracking System
- Support product intake, invoicing, packaging, labeling, and compliance verification
- Prepare products for sale, including repackaging tasks such as sifting, pre-roll creation, and portioning concentrates
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular audits and system updates
- Train staff on inventory processes, compliance standards, and recordkeeping
Team Leadership
- Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and support to CSA I and CSA II employees
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure operational priorities are met
- Communicate performance concerns, compliance risks, or operational issues to management
- Support scheduling needs and ensure appropriate shift coverage
Secondary Duties
- Perform occasional maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs
- Complete system maintenance tasks such as clearing discrepancies and creating discounts
- Assist with product processing and preparation for sale
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit required
- Complete a criminal background check
- Cannabis industry experience preferred
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods (up to 4 hours at a time)
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and use step stools as needed
- Manual dexterity to operate POS systems and standard retail equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
Work Environment
- Retail dispensary environment with regular customer interaction
- Exposure to cannabis products and odors
- Moderate noise levels
- Routine use of cleaning and sanitizing products
Schedule Requirements
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
