Schedule:
- 1pm to 1am swing shift & 7pm to 7am night shift
- Every other weekend
- Scheduled for 3 to 4 shifts per week
- Can work other shifts as needed

Compensation:
- Earn between $40,000 to $55,000 per year
- Each donor case starts at $120.00, while cases not recovered are $75.00. In addition to case pay, an hourly rate of $12.00 is given to further compensate for each hour worked and additional duties such as, travel/ lab time and administrative tasks
- Shift Reservation Bonus equaling $2 an hour for each scheduled shift, in which the tech is not called in for work
- Company vehicles provided; however, Mileage is reimbursed should personal vehicles be approved for use

Qualifications:
- No formal Surgical Certification needed
- Possesses a valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR report
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy
- Excellent handeye coordination and fine motor skills for the manipulation of delicate eye tissue
- Knowledge of sterile and surgical techniques preferred but not required
- Detail oriented and able to work in a fastpaced environment
- Must live within 30 minutes of Bethlehem, PA
Position Purpose:

Eye Recovery Technicians are key contributors to sight restoration in the field of ocular, organ and tissue Donation. This crucial and gratifying role not only has an immensely positive impact on the quality of life for those who suffer from corneal blindness but help facilitate the final wishes of our generous donors and their families.
Eye Recovery Technicians travel to the site of ocular donors, such as funeral homes, hospitals, operating rooms, medical examiner and coroner's offices. They are responsible for the safe recovery and transportation of ocular tissue, utilizing sterile/aseptic technique. Our team members additionally deliver and ship ocular tissue to our partners in donation, to be processed and sent to surgeons nationally and internationally for the purpose of transplantation. Transforming our recipients and their family’s quality of life, through life altering site restoration.
In addition to the recovery of human eye tissue for transplant and/or research, the Eye Recovery Technician is responsible for the collection of necessary medical, behavioral, laboratory, and other data, to ensure quality donor screening. All Eye Recovery Technicians are dedicated to the highest ethical standards and are trained to use surgical aseptic techniques to ensure that tissue is recovered safely with respect and dignity to the donor and their family. All Technicians are trained in a manner to ensure compliance with and adherence to, regulatory entities and standards. Although experience is preferred, it is not necessary, as quality on the job training and support is given and maintained by our dedicated designated trainers.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- No formal Surgical Technician certification is required but Surgical Technicians and students seeking externships are welcomed and encouraged to apply
- Work experience in the fields of science and/or allied health care (Surgical Technician, Ophthalmic Technologists, EMT, ER Technician, etc.)
- A valid driver's license and insurance is required
Preferred Work Experience:
- Eye bank technician experience
- Hospital technician experience
- Medical assistant experience
- Formal education in the medical field

The physical demands representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include but are not limited to regularly required to sit, stand, talk, see and hear, needing to possess conversational hearing, with or without air, as well as adequate vision; required to possess dexterity to operate standard office equipment, occasionally required to lift 100 pounds or more. - Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all Eye Bank, hospital and peer agency staff
- Ability to understand and adhere to Lions World Vision Institute's safety, regulatory and confidentiality guidelines
- Must read and write in English
- Must be able to work scheduled commitment which may include; days, nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours when needed
- Must have reliable, dependable transportation to and from work.
- Must have a dependable cell phone number for contact during hours of on call
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
- Ability to adapt to changing technology implemented to stay competitive
- Computer software skills including but not limited to MS Outlook and Word
