Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Adult Day Health Center Activity Coordinator to lead engaging, meaningful activities for seniors and individuals with disabilities. In this vital role, you will develop, coordinate, and implement a variety of recreational programs designed to enhance residents’ quality of life, promote social interaction, and support their physical and mental well-being. Your enthusiasm and organizational skills will foster a warm, inclusive environment where every participant feels valued and connected. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of geriatric patients and those receiving community-based care.

Duties

Plan, organize, and execute diverse recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific programs.
Coordinate resident events such as outings, themed celebrations, and social gatherings to promote community engagement.
Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interactions that encourage participation and foster trust.
Collaborate with caregiving staff, nursing teams, and family members to assess individual needs and adapt activities accordingly.
Manage schedules for daily activities, ensuring smooth transitions between programs while maintaining safety protocols.
Maintain detailed records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness.
Lead team efforts by supervising activity assistants or volunteers, providing training in recreational therapy techniques and resident engagement strategies.

Qualifications

Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments.
Prior experience working with seniors, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
Knowledge of recreational therapy principles, memory care techniques, and geriatric care best practices.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and reporting purposes.
Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs that promote socialization and mental stimulation for geriatric populations.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care settings is highly desirable.
