Full Job Description

Job Summary:

Lucky Cheetah, a newly established dim sum restaurant in Portland, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. The Prep Cook will assist in the preparation of various ingredients, menu items, and mise en place, ensuring high-quality dishes are consistently delivered to our guests. This position plays a crucial role in supporting kitchen operations and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare ingredients and components of dishes according to recipes and specifications.
Assist in cutting, chopping, peeling, and slicing vegetables and fruits.
Measure and portion ingredients accurately for cooking and baking.
Marinate, season, and cook proteins such as meats and seafood as directed.
Prepare sauces, dressings, and garnishes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, refrigerators, and storage areas.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure efficient and timely preparation of menu items.
Follow recipes, portion control guidelines, and presentation specifications.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Prep Cook or similar role in a restaurant or culinary environment.
Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils.
Understanding of food safety practices and proper handling techniques.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to lift and carry heavy trays and containers.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Culinary school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Working Conditions:

Fast-paced kitchen environment with varying temperatures.
Standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment noise.
