Position Overview
The Accounting Associate is a key support role within CB Accounting, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and bookkeeping services. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, motivated professional who enjoys working with numbers, is eager to learn, and thrives in a collaborative team environment. Accounting Associates work closely with senior staff to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Office & Administrative Support
- Manage phone calls, emails, and front desk reception duties.
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and conference calls. • Maintain and organize office files, records, and correspondence.
- Prepare and edit documents, reports, and presentations as needed.
2. Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Process accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and other accounting transactions.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for clients.
- Process payroll, including: Regular payroll entries and Quarterly payroll reports
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts.
3. Tax Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare basic individual and business tax returns under the supervision of senior staff.
- Gather and organize tax documents into Firm 360 in accordance with company policy.
- Input tax returns for senior staff review.
- Attend meetings with senior staff and clients, providing notes as applicable.
- Organize and maintain tax records in compliance with regulations.
- Assist in tax research and gathering necessary client documentation.
- Complete client intake as needed by office location.
4. Client Support
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial information and documentation.
- Ensure client files are organized, complete, and up to date.
- Provide prompt, professional responses to client inquiries.
5. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with accountants, managers, and other associates to meet project deadlines.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development programs.
- Contribute to process improvements for greater efficiency and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- 0–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (public accounting experience a plus).
- Basic knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
