Full Job Description

Work with Account Managers and Business Unit Managers to accurately estimate projects and prepare proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyzes customer submitted RFQ’s including drawings, specifications, and other documents.
Develops fabrication plans, in conjunction with manufacturing engineers, to establish the basis of estimate for each project.
Calculates labor, material, and other costs required to execute a given scope of work. This includes identifying qualified vendors and subcontractors.
Prepares work breakdown structure and supports the creation of MS Project schedules as required.
Assists with preparing quotations and proposals as necessary to meet customer requirements.
Works with Account Manager and other departments to ensure availability of necessary resources – including manpower, equipment, and materials.
Provides support, as required, for the preparation of technical proposals.
Presents cost estimates for internal review.
Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine reasons for any discrepancies.
Identifies cost trends to assist in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
Associate’s degree (A. A.) from two-year College or university; or five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one year experience as a Materials Estimator or two years’ experience as a fabricator is required.

Must be able to read and understand fabrication drawings.
Must understand manufacturing processes to accurately estimate costs and lead times.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a general knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word. Training will be provided on the specific tools used in the performance of the position.
Must be willing to occasionally work extended hours to meet proposal deadlines.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit in a stationary position for extended periods of time while working at a computer. The employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet – typical of what is generally found in an office setting. The employee will occasionally find it necessary to enter a manufacturing environment. The manufacturing environment is typical of that type of setting – employees may be exposed to inclement weather, loud noises, tripping hazards; and there may be exposure to sparks, welding arc, open flame, and moving equipment.
