Full Job Description

Job Description:

At Springfield Urgent Care, we are currently looking for a Float Medical Assistant/ Medical Receptionist to join our team. In this position you will be required to perform duties of both a Medical Assistant and a Medical Receptionist.

*This position will require travel to all of our locations (Currently 5 Locations: Clarkston, Highland, Hamburg, White Lake, and Saginaw: Subject to change based on company growth)*

With this position, we are looking for full-time Float Medical Assistant/ Medical Receptionist that will be on-call each morning, 3 days a week. Those 3 working days a week can be negotiated. All of our clinic locations are currently open 7 days a week.

If there is a call in, the Float will be contacted by their supervisor to report to that clinic in need; The Float Medical Assistant/ Medical Receptionist will provide relief for call-ins on a first come, first served basis- unless there is a greater need later. In this case, the staff member will travel to the clinic in need if the clinic would have to close otherwise. In the case that there are no call-ins, the Supervisor will review the schedule for the day and send the Float Medical Assistant/ Medical Receptionist to the location with the lowest staff to patient volume ratio. It is a requirement that the Float can work independently as both a Medical Assistant and a Medical Receptionist.

Qualifications:

Minimum one year of experience in a medical receptionist capacity
Minimum one year of experience in a clinical/medical assistant capacity
Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
The ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections

Medical Receptionist Responsibilities:

Greet patients
Register patients according to established protocols
Assist patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation including medical insurance
Ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
Inform patients of medical office procedures and policy
Maintain and manage patient records
Move patients through appointments as scheduled
Answer incoming calls and properly address inquiries
Schedule patient appointments
Collect co-pays and payments
All other duties as assigned by office manager

Medical Assistant Responsibilities:

Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart
Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician or advanced practice provider
Assist physician or advanced practice provider in exam rooms
Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or advanced practice provider
Ensure all related reports, labs and information are filed in patients’ medical records upon receipt of results
Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physician or advanced practice provider
Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, sterilization spore check, etc.)
All other duties as assigned by office manager
