Full Job Description

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join their team. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience within the OIT office by helping students, staff, and faculty with troubleshooting computer equipment including hardware and software issues. This internship will help development with the following skills: active listening & customer service, IT troubleshooting techniques, critical thinking & problem solving, interpersonal communication skills, teamwork and attention to detail.

Hourly Rate: $15.75

Ivy Tech has campuses throughout Indiana and also serves thousands of students annually online. It serves as the state’s engine of workforce development, offering associate degrees, short-term certificate programs, industry certifications, and training that aligns to the needs of the community. The College provides seamless transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana, as well as out of state, for a more affordable route to a Bachelor’s degree. This position will be based out of the Bloomington campus, working with multiple departments in a team setting.

What You Will Do

Assist students with troubleshooting computer equipment including hardware and software issues
Help to setup equipment and demonstrations for student labs as part of academic coursework
Work with other Ivy Tech staff to address hardware and software needs on campus issued laptops and equipment
Set up equipment for staff use, ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software
Troubleshoot incoming calls and help tickets, and work with IT Help Desk staff to devise a plan of action to help staff and students
Create and maintain documentation as requested of supervisor

Schedule:

Traditional hours of operation for the business/department:

- End: 5:00p
Days of the week for the student to come in for work:
Flexible to the student’s schedule (Monday – Friday)

Flexible to the student’s schedule (Monday – Friday)

Desired holiday + break work schedule:

Student will have flexibility to work or not work during holidays and breaks

Start Date:

Early September (after start of Junior year)
