Job Title: Kitchen Utility Worker / Dishwasher

Job Summary

The Kitchen Utility Worker/Dishwasher plays an important role in supporting the retreat center’s kitchen operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary environment. This position helps ensure a peaceful, welcoming experience for retreat guests by supporting the culinary team with dishwashing, kitchen cleanliness, and light utility tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment by hand or using commercial dishwashers
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dining, and dishwashing areas
Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, floors, and workstations in accordance with health and safety standards
Properly store clean dishes, cookware, and supplies
Assist with light food preparation and kitchen support tasks as needed
Remove trash and recycling and maintain clean waste areas
Restock kitchen supplies, cleaning products, and dishware
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and retreat center policies
Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to support a calm, respectful, and efficient work environment
Report equipment, maintenance, or safety concerns to kitchen leadership

Qualifications

Previous kitchen or dishwashing experience preferred but not required
Ability to work efficiently in a quiet, respectful, and team-oriented environment
Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending
Reliable, punctual, and committed to supporting a positive guest experience

Work Environment & Schedule

Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and retreat event days
Work environment emphasizes cleanliness, teamwork, and mindful service

Physical Requirements

Standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive motions
Safe handling of cleaning chemicals and hot kitchen equipment
