Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Construction Project Accountant and become a vital part of our growing construction operations at AMW!

The Project Accountant is responsible for supporting project teams with contract management, modifications, compliance, invoicing, payments, reporting, and other accounting-related duties throughout the project lifecycle. This role reports directly to the controller.

The Project Accountant monitors, manages, and analyzes the financial performance of projects, providing accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making and help ensure project profitability and success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage all accounting-related functions for assigned projects.
Set up new projects in accounting system, including contract amounts, cost codes, billing schedules, and retention terms.
Work closely with project managers to ensure budgets are realistic and achievable and that spending aligns with the budgets.
Analyze the project finances, providing detailed, timely financial reports to stakeholders.
Prepare and deliver reports that provide insight into project financial health.
Monitor project costs by tracking expenses and identifying/flagging cost overruns, unapproved change orders, or billing discrepancies.
Assist project teams with any questions or needs related to the accounting department.
Manage invoices, payments, and compliance for assigned projects.
Understand compliance requirements for assigned projects.
Attending or supporting internal project review meetings and providing financial input and updates in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Setup and maintenance for all divisions
Monthly invoicing for all divisions
Accounts receivable follow-up for all divisions
Job cost tracking and analysis
Compliance & Contract administration
Reporting and Communication

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or similar business degree.
Minimum 2 years prior experience working as an accountant or bookkeeper (ideally with exposure to project-based ort construction accounting.
Experience in the construction industry preferred.
Proficient in data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable and vendor payments.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Key competencies are communication, teamwork, initiative, and dependability.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Microsoft Office Suite
Deltek ComputerEase experience preferred
Procore experience preferred
