Full Job Description

Summary:

To develop and maintain all program functions for The Center at Spring Street. To provide an ongoing program of activities designed to meet the interest and physical, mental, and social well-being of older adult consumers that attend the Center. Build and maintain strong and positive relations with team and Center members. Build and maintain positive relations with representatives from local newspapers, television/cable stations, and organizations to promote Center events and programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, coordinate, and implement programs and activities in conjunction with the Center Director.
Solicit and procure speakers, presenters, and instructors as needed for programs and activities.
Schedule and promote monthly calendar of events in coordination with newsletter deadlines.
Enter activities calendar into CoPilot program monthly.
Update and maintain bulletin boards with program announcements monthly.
Assist in recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers as related to program functions.
Maintain relationships with local organizations to provide additional program and service support.
Submit for approval any fee for programs or instructors to Center Director.
Seek feedback and information from members to identify interests. Use of surveys for the same purpose.
Assist members with registration for programs/activities.
Public activities: Facebook, Website and Press Releases.
With release, take photos at Center of events and activities.
Work with Center director and/or Center Team on room set-up for programs.
Create signup sheets required for activities and announcement of programs
Facilitate programs. Set up rooms, secure supplies needed.
Attend staff meetings to maintain communications with other staff members.
Attend training and information sessions relevant to the position or the agency with the approval of the Center Director and/or Executive Director.
Assist with planning and are available and work fundraisers. (Comparable time off will be prearranged, with approval.)
Required to be available and work at public events several times a year that occur outside of the five-day work week (for example: street and community fairs, community days, etc.). (Comparable time off will be prearranged, with approval.)
Performs other duties as may from time to time be assigned by Center Director or Executive Director.
Working knowledge of social media, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
Must possess strong PC skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook) including working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn new programs.

Educational Requirements:

High School diploma or high school equivalent
Two to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Willingness to work within the guidelines of the Boyertown Area Multi-Service and its policies and procedures.
Aptitude for working with individuals/families and managing difficult situations
Commitment and ability to respect and preserve client confidentiality
Demonstrated leadership ability
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Ability to work well as part of a team and to set and adjust priorities
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Understanding fair access to services for all clients
Proficient skills with Microsoft Office Suite
Must have the ability to pass all applicable clearances on a yearly basis. Including but not limited to FBI, Child Abuse and State Police
Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands:

Notwithstanding applicable ADA accommodations, while performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to: sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone. Use of hands to operate standard office equipment with regular reach and lifting to 25 pounds is a possibility. Ability to drive to various work settings is required
Employee is required to be able to drive their car to various home settings or community locations if needed; the ability to drive to those locations safely is required, unless exceptions are explicitly recommended and approved by the Executive Director, or in keeping with ADA requirements.

Working conditions:

General office settings, community settings.
Must be willing/able to travel to conferences, training, etc., when required by the Executive Director.
Must demonstrate respect and professionalism toward all clients in all interactions
Work hours 8am-4pm
May be required to work evenings occasionally to accommodate agency functions.
May be required to work weekends to accommodate agency functions and/ or clients’ scheduling needs

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
