Full Job Description

Position Summary:

The Radiology Access Specialist acts as first line of insurance for patient safety to minimize exposure and risk. The position serves a critical role in insuring patient orders for imaging exams and procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements including appropriate use documentation/criteria and prior authorization. This position provides complex scheduling services for all Diagnostic Imaging exams and procedures while demonstrating exceptional customer services and critical thinking skills.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Radiology Access Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and providers, ensuring a smooth and efficient scheduling process for radiology services. The ideal candidate combines strong customer service skills with medical office experience and a commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule radiology appointments accurately and efficiently
Verify patient demographics, insurance, and authorization requirements
Provide clear instructions and preparation details to patients
Answer incoming calls and respond to patient and provider inquiries
Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure proper exam scheduling
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the system
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
Deliver excellent customer service in all interactions

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of medical office experience required
At least 2 years of customer service experience required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
