Full Job Description

Job Title: Pediatric Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

Position: Full or Part Time

Job Description: Roslindale Pediatrics is looking for a compassionate and organized Certified Clinical Medical Assistant to join our team. In the role as a medical assistant, the applicant will work with a team to provide primary care for patients ranging in age from newborn through 22 years. The medical assistant responsibilities (detailed below) include but are not limited to preparing and cleaning exam rooms, rooming patients, taking appropriate vital signs, and performing in-house lab tests. In addition, the candidate should be organized, energetic and upbeat and available for additional tasks as needed. Please note this is a 32-40 hour per week position that does require some evening hours and occasional weekends.

About Roslindale Pediatrics: Roslindale Pediatrics provides high quality, compassionate, and comprehensive health care for pediatric patients and their families in a supportive and respectful environment. We are a well-established, medium sized (7 physicians, 4 nurse practitioners, 2 behavioral health clinicians) office located in West Roxbury, MA. Our patients are newborn through college age, and many families have been with our practice for generations.

Summary of Duties:

Organizes and prepares patient visits by reviewing patient charts.
Prepares exam rooms for the patient encounter; restocks and cleans as necessary.
Calls patients from the lobby into the exam room in a timely manner.
Obtains chief complaint, vital signs, screenings and consent forms from patients.
Perform vision and hearing screenings.
Inputs results of developmental and mental health screenings.
Prepares and administers immunizations.
Performs CLIA waived Point of Care Testing including Urine dips, Hemoglobin, Lead, Strep, COVID, Flu, and RSV testing.
Ensures CLIA waived testing controls are completed monthly or as needed according to practice procedures and that tests are adequately stocked.
Assists with the collection and transport of lab samples.
Performs phlebotomy, if properly trained to do so.
Appropriately documents information in EMR system (EPIC experience preferred).
Clean instruments and equipment after use
Uses proper techniques and procedures for hazardous waste disposal and universal precautions.
Maintains cleanliness of exam rooms and laboratory areas and prepares these areas for the next patient after they have been used.
Informs management when supplies are low and participates in weekly stocking and assessing of inventory.
Assist nurses and doctors with basic medical care and procedures
Assists with general duties and special projects as needed.
Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing work queues in the EHR.

Education & Experience:

Certified Medical Assistant (required)
Two (2) years Clinical Medical Experience (required)
Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a pediatric setting (preferred)
Phlebotomy skills (preferred)
Current BLS/CPR Certification
Familiarity with Epic (Desired)
Excellent customer service skills
Strong attention to detail

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
