Full Job Description

First Congregational Church of Hanover, United Church of Christ, seeks a new church administrator! Join our vibrant community where your organizational talents and administrative expertise will help foster a welcoming and efficient environment for our congregation. This dynamic role is vital in managing the day-to-day operations of the church, performing general office functions, and supporting staff and volunteers. The Church Administrator provides comprehensive administrative support, manages church communications and publications, and serves as a primary point of contact for members and the public. We are looking for a professional who balances administrative efficiency with a warm, welcoming presence.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Publications:
Design and produce weekly worship bulletins and PowerPoint slides
Edit and produce the monthly church newsletter and regular email updates.
Maintain and update the church website and assist in social media projects
Manage internal and external church calendars to coordinate meetings and events
General Office Management:
Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, phone calls, and email inquiries
Manage church records, including membership database, and archival documents
Assist the Senior Pastor and church leadership with administrative tasks as needed
Finance
Assist the financial secretaries in verifying and recording contributions, and issuing quarterly statements to congregants
Collect and submit timesheets for staff to the pastor and bookkeeper
Facility Coordination:
Liaise with the Board of Trustees and the church sexton regarding scheduling and renting the facilities
Coordinate space usage for community groups and special eventsQualifications
Experience: Previous experience in office administration or executive support (experience in a church setting is a plus).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google products (docs, sheets, slides) and familiarity with digital communication tools (email marketing, social media, basic website editing) Familiarity with QuickBooks, PowerPoint, Excel, and Canva desired
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and design
Interpersonal Skills: A compassionate and professional demeanor; ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Organization: Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work independently

Work Schedule

This is a part-time position. Current office hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM, September-June, with flexible hours in July and August. Specific hours and schedule may be discussed during the interview process.
