Florida Kidney Physicians (FKP) is seeking a Healthcare Outreach & Referral Coordinator to build and strengthen referral relationships with dialysis clinics, nephrology practices, and healthcare partners throughout the Greater Tampa area.
This is a sales-focused healthcare outreach position for a relationship-driven professional who enjoys being in the field, developing new partnerships, educating clinical teams, and generating appropriate patient referrals. Approximately 75% of the role will be dedicated to community outreach, referral development, account management, and presentations, with the remaining 25% supporting referral and access coordination at the Brandon Surgery Center.
The ideal candidate understands the dialysis environment and can speak confidently with dialysis nurses, technicians, social workers, clinic managers, and physicians about the importance of timely vascular access care. Direct dialysis experience is strongly preferred, but healthcare sales and outreach professionals from infusion, home health, DME, specialty pharmacy, vascular access, or other referral-based healthcare settings are encouraged to apply.

- Tuesday–Thursday: Field outreach throughout the Greater Tampa area

What You'll Do
Healthcare Outreach & Referral Development – Approximately 75%
- Develop and manage relationships with dialysis clinics, nephrology practices, and other healthcare referral partners throughout the Greater Tampa market.
- Establish a consistent outreach cadence with assigned dialysis clinics and healthcare accounts.
- Conduct regular in-person visits with dialysis clinic leadership, nurses, social workers, technicians, and other referral partners.
- Identify opportunities to develop new referral relationships and grow existing accounts.
- Educate dialysis teams on FKP's vascular access services and the importance of timely intervention.
- Communicate effectively regarding AV fistulas, AV grafts, tunneled dialysis catheters, access dysfunction, and other vascular access concerns.
- Identify potential referral opportunities and work with dialysis teams to facilitate appropriate and timely referrals.
- Deliver educational presentations and informational sessions to dialysis clinic teams and healthcare partners.
- Represent FKP at healthcare, dialysis, nephrology, and community events.
- Build trust with referral partners through consistent follow-up, responsiveness, and exceptional service.
- Track outreach activity, account development, referral volume, and other performance metrics.
- Use data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for growth within the territory.
- Prepare and present territory updates, referral trends, and business development opportunities to leadership.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the local dialysis and nephrology market and identify opportunities to expand FKP's referral network.
Referral & Access Coordination – Approximately 25%
- Coordinate patient referrals and scheduling for vascular access procedures.
- Serve as a key point of contact between patients, dialysis clinics, physician offices, and the surgery center.
- Verify referral information and obtain required clinical and administrative documentation.
- Coordinate appointments and help ensure patients move efficiently through the referral process.
- Assist with patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and other front-office functions.
- Maintain accurate patient and referral information.
- Follow up with referral sources regarding outstanding information, scheduling, and patient coordination.
- Support the Brandon Surgery Center in providing an exceptional patient and referring-provider experience.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare sales, outreach, referral development, business development, account management, or a clinical healthcare environment.
- Dialysis or nephrology experience strongly preferred.
- Experience developing relationships with dialysis clinics, physicians, nurses, social workers, case managers, or other healthcare referral sources highly preferred.
- Previous experience generating or obtaining patient referrals is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with healthcare outreach or sales experience in infusion, home health, DME, specialty pharmacy, vascular access, or related healthcare services are encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare referral process and ability to communicate effectively with clinical and administrative audiences.
- Working knowledge of dialysis and vascular access, including AV fistulas, AV grafts, and dialysis catheters, preferred.
- Strong presentation and public-speaking skills with the ability to confidently educate and present to groups of clinical professionals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Comfortable analyzing referral and outreach data and creating professional presentations for leadership and referral partners.
- Highly organized with strong follow-up and account-management skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while managing a field-based territory.
- Energetic, personable, professional, and confident initiating relationships with new accounts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Greater Tampa area several days per week.

You'll be expected to build meaningful referral relationships, increase awareness of FKP's vascular access services, generate appropriate referral opportunities, and become a trusted resource for dialysis clinics throughout the market.
The strongest candidate will be someone who is comfortable walking into a dialysis clinic, building rapport with the clinical team, understanding their challenges, presenting solutions, following up consistently, and ultimately turning those relationships into measurable referral growth.
