Full Job Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking to hire a Sous Chef with a passion for food who thrives in a dynamic, high-volume environment to assist in the production of Vermont Country Deli signature dishes and seasonal soups, salads, and entrees. The ideal candidate is hard-working, dependable, able to follow recipes, and works in an organized and timely manner.

Pay Range: $18-$20 per hour plus tips

Additional Full Time Benefits: Dental Insurance, $1000 in FSA/DCA, IRA with company match

Responsibilities:

Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling and chopping
Preparing all dishes to meet company recipes and standards
Collaboration on daily specials
Incorporate seasonal and local ingredients
Assist with all activities related to receiving, stocking and rotating orders
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and walk ins are kept clean and tidy
Monitor inventory, ensuring efficient use of supplies and minimizing waste
Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work areas and equipment while preparing food items for our deli
Ensure food health and safety regulations are followed
Respect and proactively help kitchen team members

Qualifications:

The following is preferred, but we will train the right person:

Previous experience in a culinary role, preferably in a high volume or production kitchen
Knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety regulations, culinary techniques
Experience using cutting tools, cookware and knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
Possess knowledge of food preparation and storage, sanitation requirements and commercial kitchen equipment

Required:

Work Weekends
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure efficiently
Understanding of hospitality standards and customer service
Must be able to stand for long periods
Frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting will be required
Must be able to move up to 55lbs

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
