Human Resources Manager

Company: Inventech Marine Solutions / Life Proof Boats
Location: Bremerton, WA (On-Site)
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000 DOE, plus performance bonus potential

About Us

Inventech Marine Solutions, the builder of Life Proof Boats, is a growing aluminum boat manufacturer serving commercial, government, military, and recreational marine markets. We recently moved into a new manufacturing facility and continue to scale production capacity and headcount.

Our team currently spans welding and fabrication, rigging, engineering, finishing, upholstery, collars, purchasing, and administration — and we are growing. As we scale, we need an HR professional who can bring structure, consistency, and a people-first approach to our HR function.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager will own the HR function at IMS — from recruiting and onboarding through compliance, benefits administration, employee relations, and policy development. This is a hands-on, generalist role suited for someone who can operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

The right candidate is approachable to shop-floor employees, credible with management, comfortable with both white-collar and blue-collar workforce dynamics, and capable of building HR systems that support a growing team without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.

This is not a support role. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the HR function and helps IMS become a better place to work while enabling the business to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Own the full-cycle recruiting process — job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, and onboarding — for all hourly and salaried positions.
Develop and maintain onboarding programs that get new hires productive and retained.
Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, 401(k), PTO, and other company-provided benefits.
Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, workplace concerns, and conflict resolution.
Ensure IMS remains in compliance with federal, Washington State, and local employment laws and regulations (WISHA, FLSA, FMLA, EEO, I-9, etc.).
Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and personnel files.
Develop, update, and enforce company HR policies, the employee handbook, and workplace conduct standards.
Support department managers with performance management, corrective action, PIPs, and terminations.
Coordinate and track employee training, certifications, and skills development.
Build and maintain a skills matrix and training calendar in coordination with production leadership.
Manage the separation process — exit interviews, offboarding, and unemployment responses.
Support payroll coordination and ensure HR data accuracy.
Identify and address turnover drivers, morale issues, and cultural gaps.
Help build a positive, accountable, and respectful workplace culture aligned with IMS values.
Partner with leadership on workforce planning as the company continues to grow.

Managers have clear processes for addressing performance and conduct issues.
IMS is in compliance with applicable employment law — no surprises.
Employee questions about benefits, policies, and HR processes get answered quickly.
Turnover is tracked, understood, and improving.
The company has a real HR infrastructure — not just ad-hoc responses.
Employees trust HR as a fair and accessible resource.

Required Qualifications

4+ years of HR generalist or HR manager experience, with demonstrated ownership of multiple HR functions.
Experience in a manufacturing, trades, or industrial environment — understanding of blue-collar workforce dynamics is essential.
Strong knowledge of Washington State employment law, WISHA/OSHA requirements, and federal HR compliance.
Experience managing full-cycle recruiting for both hourly and salaried roles.
Proficiency in benefits administration and employee relations.
Hands-on experience developing or updating HR policies and employee handbooks.
Strong interpersonal skills — able to build trust with shop-floor employees and senior leadership alike.
Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
High degree of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
Experience in boatbuilding, marine manufacturing, defense manufacturing, or government contracting environments.
Familiarity with ERP or HRIS systems.
Experience supporting a workforce of 50–150 employees across multiple departments.
Experience building HR infrastructure in a scaling or rapidly growing company.
Background in workforce development, apprenticeship programs, or skills-based training programs.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
