Senior Director of Enterprise Operations

Colorado 811 | Golden, Colorado | Hybrid
$170,000 – $180,000 annually | Full-Time | Salaried/Exempt

Lead the Operations Behind Colorado’s 811 Safety Network

What if your next leadership opportunity could combine strategy, people leadership, technology, operations, and a mission that directly impacts public safety across Colorado?

Colorado 811 is looking for an accomplished Senior Director of Enterprise Operations to join our senior leadership team and help shape the next stage of our organization’s growth.

Colorado 811 is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to preventing damage to underground infrastructure and keeping Colorado communities safe. We operate a 24/7 statewide notification center and work with utilities, excavators, contractors, government agencies, and communities across the state.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can think strategically, lead through others, turn strategy into execution, and build the systems and infrastructure needed for a growing organization.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple enterprise functions, including:

Lead and develop senior department leaders and cross-functional teams, building accountability and leadership capacity.
Partner with the Executive Director to translate organizational strategy into operational plans, KPIs/OKRs, budgets, and measurable results.
Oversee major cross-functional initiatives from planning through implementation, including scope, timelines, resources, risk, communication, and adoption.
Drive operational improvements that make our organization more efficient, scalable, consistent, and resilient.
Provide oversight of functions including Information Technology, Data Governance & Analytics, Marketing & Communications, Education & Damage Prevention, Facilities, and enterprise project support.
Provide P&L and budget oversight for assigned business units, including forecasting, financial analysis, resource planning, and corrective action.
Lead enterprise vendor, contract, procurement, and service-level management.
Strengthen technology, data governance, cybersecurity, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies.
Guide facilities strategy, capital improvements, workplace operations, safety, security, and business continuity.
Partner with Human Resources on workforce planning, organizational development, leadership development, and performance management.
Represent Colorado 811 with internal and external stakeholders, industry partners, and other organizations as appropriate.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a strategic operator and experienced people leader who enjoys turning big-picture ideas into effective execution.

You bring:

10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience overseeing multi-department operations and complex organizational priorities.
Experience directly leading directors, senior managers, and other leaders.
A proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional projects and organizational change.
Strong experience with budgets, forecasting, financial performance, dashboards, KPIs/OKRs, and operational metrics.
Experience developing processes, policies, systems, and management infrastructure that help organizations scale.
Strong contract, vendor, procurement, and risk-management experience.
The ability to communicate effectively with executives, leaders, employees, vendors, and external stakeholders.
A bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field is required. A master's degree or MBA is preferred.

You'll Stand Out If You Have

Experience in a nonprofit, member-driven, public safety, utility, infrastructure, regulated-service, or similarly complex environment is a plus.

We'd also value experience with facilities, technology, data analytics/governance, education, marketing, board or committee environments, and Colorado regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position requiring residence within a reasonable commuting distance of Golden, Colorado, with onsite work based on organizational needs.

Standard business hours are generally 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed. Travel is estimated at up to 10% for meetings, conferences, events, training, and stakeholder engagement.
