Company Overview

Capital Construction Contracting is a large-volume residential exterior contracting company dedicated to delivering exceptional service and quality workmanship across New England. With 20+ years of experience and locations in MA, NH & CT, we pride ourselves on craftsmanship, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Job Summary

Capital Construction Contracting is launching a new, division focused on multi-unit and light commercial projects. We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Construction Estimator to help build this division from day one. This is an opportunity to not only prepare accurate estimates and support winning bids, but to also contribute to the new systems, processes, and standards that will define the new department as it scales.

In this role, you will be responsible for producing detailed, accurate cost estimates, supporting project budgeting and cost control, and collaborating closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, driving sustainable growth across New England.

Responsibilities

Review project scope and documents:

Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to interpret scope, specifications, and requirements

Build detailed estimates:

Develop comprehensive cost estimates by analyzing material requirements, labor costs, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes

Prepare and support bids:

Utilize estimating software and/or similar tools to prepare accurate, competitive bids

Manage budgets and cost control:

Own and manage project budgets from initial estimate through project completion, ensuring financial accuracy and effective cost control

Coordinate with key stakeholders:

Collaborate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams through clear communication and strong negotiation

Produce estimating documentation:

Prepare detailed spreadsheets for material quantities, costs, and project timelines to support bid accuracy and internal tracking

Maintain estimating accuracy over time:

Review construction management software updates and incorporate changes to adjust estimates as needed

Track and document variances to support continuous improvement within the new division

Experience & Qualifications

Estimating experience:

Proven experience in construction estimating for multi-unit and light commercial projects, with a strong understanding of industry standards

Software proficiency:

Proficiency with estimating software and equivalent tools

Familiarity with construction management software and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Plan reading and takeoff ability:

Skilled in blueprint reading and accurately interpreting technical drawings

Familiarity with digital plan review and markup processes

Bid-to-close project exposure:

Experience managing projects as an estimator from initial bid through project completion

Communication and negotiation:

Excellent negotiation skills with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms

Construction realism:

Ability to translate plans into accurate material requirements and maintain effective cost control

Construction site experience is preferred to better understand real-world conditions during the estimation process
