Full Job Description

Job Summary

Our company is looking for an entry-level accountant to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. Commitment to confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable, and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines.

Our company consists of a large group of entities so this position is expected to quickly learn and understand payables and receivables, as well as how transactions are ideally accounted for. The position will collaborate and communicate with employees, vendors, and customers to ensure accuracy of financial transactions.

Salary will be based on experience and aptitude.

Accounting Responsibilities and Duties (approx. 80% or more of time)

· Balance and maintain accurate ledgers, documenting transaction details

· Assist with payment of vendor invoices and track bank account balances

· Post entries to payables and receivables and track accurately in the GL accounts

· Perform general bookkeeping duties, including posting information to accounting software and regularly reconciling accounts. Perform reconciliations of bank accounts to ensure cash balances are correct

· Obtain and maintain vendor documents

· Maintain a streamlined source document structure in AppFolio as well as in Quickbooks and on the company server

· Generate monthly financial reports

· Notify senior staff of accounting errors

· Perform other finance or other accounting related duties as requested

Office Admin Responsibilities and Duties (approx. 20% or less of time)

· Coordinate building, office, and grounds issues for general repair, updates, and cleaning with outside vendors as necessary

· Help with orders, return supplies and gifts

· Manage phone calls and correspondence (email, letters, packages, etc.)

· Mail checks in payment for bills

· Coordinate office activities and parties, distributing gifts to properties

· Organize and tidy entire office space

· Complete other tasks and assist colleagues on request

Required Qualfications

· Valid Driver’s License or valid state-issued identification

· Ability to successfully complete any required background or employment screening

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to and from the property/work location as required

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Professional and dependable with a strong work ethic

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements

· Advanced computer and technology skills

· Ability to communicate professionally with residents, employees, vendors, and management

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment

· Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

· Experience working in a fast-paced environment

· Familiarity with property management software and Microsoft Office
