Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Lab Technician and become a vital contributor to our innovative optical laboratory. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for supporting high-volume production processes, ensuring precise laboratory procedures, and maintaining the quality standards that define our reputation. Your expertise in ophthalmology, equipment setup, and laboratory management will drive efficiency and excellence in creating optical lenses that improve lives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to precision, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate laboratory equipment including optical lens edgers, CNC lathes, and machining tools to produce high-quality lenses efficiently.
Interpret ophthalmic prescriptions and lens parameters accurately, ensuring precise fabrication aligned with customer specifications.
Manage laboratory workflows by organizing materials, maintaining inventory levels, and adhering to ISO standards specific to the location.
Perform routine quality assurance checks on finished lenses, verifying measurements such as lens thickness, curvature, and optical power.
Utilize laboratory techniques to troubleshoot equipment issues, perform maintenance tasks, and optimize production processes.
Maintain detailed records of manufacturing steps, inspection results, and equipment calibrations in compliance with laboratory procedures.
Collaborate with sales teams to understand retail customer needs and provide technical support for ophthalmic prescriptions and lens options.

Requirements

Proven experience in optical laboratories or manufacturing environments with high-volume production capabilities.
Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience operating CNC machines, CNC lathes, and optical edgers.
Familiarity with ophthalmology concepts including anatomy, physiology, ophthalmic prescription abbreviations, and lens parameter identification.
Knowledge of laboratory management practices including ISO standards relevant to the location and quality assurance protocols.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and perform basic math calculations related to lens fabrication.
Experience in retail sales or customer service within an optical or healthcare setting is a plus.
Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to ensure consistent quality output.
