ABOUT LIVE OUT LOUD

For 25 years, Live Out Loud has empowered LGBTQAI+ youth to become leaders and advocates through education, mentorship, and leadership development. We partner with schools to provide programs that explore LGBTQ+ history, current issues, and the importance of equity, inclusion, and belonging. Our workshops help students build confidence, strengthen their voices, and develop the skills to advocate for themselves and others.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day delivery, quality, and participant experience across Live Out Loud's school-based programs. Working closely with the Sr. Program Manager, this role manages an active portfolio of school partnerships, leads curriculum development, and drives the Young Trailblazers Scholarship Program. This position requires creativity, strong relationship-building skills, and a deep commitment to fostering LGBTQ+ inclusion and empowerment in schools.

PROGRAM DELIVERY & OWNERSHIP

Manages day-to-day delivery of assigned programs: The School Program, Virtual Town Hall meetings for GSA Advisors, and the Young Trailblazers Scholarship Program.
Owns the full participant experience from first point of contact through program completion.
Coordinates all logistics including scheduling, materials, venue or school coordination, and vendor relationships.
Manages school relationships across an assigned portfolio of up to 20 schools per month in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island.
Delivers school sessions ranging from 60 minutes to 2 hours, maintaining a consistent visit cadence based on each school's preference.
Tracks attendance, participant outcomes, program and survey data, and submits regular updates to the Sr. Program Manager.
Identifies challenges or resource needs and escalates appropriately.
Supports community relationships tied to assigned programs.

CURRICULUM & WORKSHOP DEVELOPMENT

Designs and updates Live Out Loud's annual School Program curriculum, creating engaging workshops and lesson plans for implementation from October through June.
Develops age-appropriate content tailored to both middle school and high school audiences, ensuring workshops reflect the unique developmental needs, interests, and experiences of each student population.
Creates an SEL-based curriculum that builds leadership, communication, advocacy, and community action skills — empowering LGBTQ+ youth and allies to strengthen their voices, foster inclusion, navigate interpersonal relationships, and make a positive impact within their schools and communities.
Serves as the primary liaison with NYC DOE partners to design, create, and facilitate three 60–90-minute GSA Advisor Town Halls.
Responsible for all post-event documentation including attendance tracking, program reporting, compiling participant surveys, and coordinating partner follow-ups.

OUTREACH & SCHOOL RECRUITMENT

Develops and executes an annual school recruitment and retention plan, engaging current and prospective school partners to ensure strong participation and program growth for the following academic year.

YOUNG TRAILBLAZERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Leads management of the Young Trailblazers Scholarship Program on an annual cycle.
Reviews all submissions for eligibility and ensures the applicant pool meets the minimum number of applicants.
Meets with the Sr. Program Manager to review the overall applicant pool and determine the composition of the applicant committee; final approval comes from the Executive Director.
Conducts interviews alongside the Sr. Manager and assists in preparing materials ahead of the annual Gala.

REPORTING & COMPLIANCE

Submits program reports, attendance records, and participation data to the Sr. Program Manager on a weekly basis.
Captures photos and stories from the field with appropriate media releases in place, for use in social media and organizational communications.
Communicates school cancellations, scheduling changes, or concerns promptly to the Sr. Program Manager.
Participates in weekly team meetings and all required training.

SUMMER DEBRIEF & PLANNING

Conducts a structured end-of-year debrief for each program, capturing the effectiveness of programming.
Gathers feedback directly from school contacts, teachers, and participants to inform the following year's program design.
Prepares program materials, curriculum updates, and logistics frameworks for the fall.
Reviews and updates participant data, filing systems, and documentation so records are clean and audit-ready before the new school year.
Researches and identifies new school targets in designated locations, building a prioritized outreach list.
Develops a proactive fall outreach plan with clear targets, timelines, and talking points.
Conducts outreach to new and returning schools to confirm participation, introduce programming, and set expectations for the fall calendar.
Explores opportunities to deepen relationships with existing school partners — identifying additional programs, grade levels, or initiatives where Live Out Loud could expand its presence.
Uses slower periods to strengthen school relationships through check-ins, planning conversations, and partnership development.

REQUIREMENTS

3+ years of experience in curriculum development, program coordination AND education.
Experience facilitating workshops or educational programs for youth audiences.
Strong relationship-building skills with school administrators, educators, and community partners.
Ability to manage multiple school partnerships and program deliverables simultaneously.
Comfortable working in NYC public schools across multiple boroughs.
Deep commitment to LGBTQ+ equity, inclusion, and youth empowerment.
Proficiency in Airtable, Google Suite, or similar tools for data tracking and reporting.
Bachelor's degree in education, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.
