Location: in person
Schedule: Part-time, make your own schedule (15 hours per week on average)

The Finance & HR Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and may assist the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Executive Director on an as needed basis.

Position Overview

Western States Cancer Research NCORP (d.b.a. Altitude Clinical Research) is seeking a detail-oriented Finance & HR Manager (Part-Time) to support the day-to-day accounting, payroll administration, and human resources functions of our organization. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, coordinating with external accounting partners, and administering HR processes through our payroll system.

This position does not include board reporting, grant management, or strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Accounting

Maintain accurate bookkeeping records in QuickBooks
work with supporting staff to process invoices, reimbursements, and payments with appropriate documentation
Perform monthly financial reconciliations
Prepare routine financial reports for internal leadership
Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers, providing requested documentation
Maintain organized financial files to support audits and filings

Payroll & Human Resources Administration

Support payroll processing through the Paychex Flex payroll system
Administer onboarding and offboarding tasks, including I-9s, W-4s, and system setup
Maintain employee records and required documentation
Track and administer PTO and time reporting
Coordinate benefits updates with the organization’s benefits advisor
Assist with maintaining the employee handbook and HR policies

Coordination & Compliance

Serve as the primary internal contact for accounting, payroll, and benefits vendors
Ensure processes follow established internal controls
Escalate compliance or financial concerns to leadership as needed

What This Role Does Not Include

Board or finance committee presentations
Federal or state grant management or reporting
Strategic financial decision-making
Contract negotiation or legal review
Final approval authority for payroll or expenditures

Qualifications

3–5 years of bookkeeping and/or accounting experience
Experience supporting payroll and HR administration
Proficiency with QuickBooks and payroll/HR systems (Paychex)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently within established processes
Nonprofit experience preferred

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
