Full Job Description

Position Overview

The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of complex multi-station progressive, single-purpose blanking, piercing, and forming dies. This role involves high-precision machining, troubleshooting, and collaboration across departments to ensure reliable tooling performance and production efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

Plan, lay out, build, modify, and repair a wide range of precision tooling, including multi-station progressive dies, single-purpose blanking, piercing, and forming dies.
Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, samples, and both written and verbal instructions.
Visualize finished tools and parts, perform necessary mathematical calculations, and determine proper allowances for fitting and finishing.
Set up and operate tool room machinery to perform complex machining operations, maintaining extremely tight tolerances.
Utilize bench and hand tools to complete precise fitting, finishing, and assembly work; CNC machining experience is a plus.
Inspect, evaluate, and determine necessary repairs for dies returned from production.
Perform on-the-spot die repairs and adjustments to minimize production downtime.
Conduct die grinding, shimming, and replacement of worn or damaged components as required.
Fabricate repair parts or specialized machined items as needed for production or special projects.
Test dies using press room presses, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend changes to enhance performance and reduce maintenance time.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with all safety standards and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Journeyman Tool & Die Maker certification or equivalent years of practical experience in the trade.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant tool and die experience required.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with sound decision-making ability.
Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail.
Self-motivated, quality- and safety-focused, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Forklift operation experience is a plus.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
