Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Master Social Worker (LCSW) to provide services to our client population of pregnant and/or early parenting women. We will provide training in the psychoeducational model the “Survivor Moms’ Companion (SMC), which specifically addresses posttraumatic stress in the childbearing year. The LCSW will work closely with our Community Health Workers to identify women who would benefit from the SMC intervention. The LCSW will also be available to do dedicated therapy with clients who are not part of the SMC program or who have completed the SMC. Although this position is parttime, it would provide clientele to augment a LCSW with an existing private practice and allow the LCSW to independently bill for services rendered as a private practitioner. This unique hybrid model would thus provide some benefits and salary, commensurate with a parttime position, but also provide access to the BPPN client base to increase the hours available.

Duties include:

Conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments

Participating in continuing education and professional development assessment and delivery of the SMC intervention, as well as exit interviews with women as part of data collection for research with our academic partner at the University at Buffalo.

Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans

Offering crisis intervention and support

Collaborating with healthcare providers, educators, and other professionals

Maintaining accurate and detailed client records

Educating clients and families about mental health and coping strategies

Advocating for clients' needs and rights

Coordinating with community resources and services

Attending regular team meetings and engaging in ongoing liaison with the BPPN team as well as the UB team.

Facilitating any needed referrals to psychiatric, substance abuse, or domestic violence services and maintenance of regular contact with the study team as a whole to facilitate the overall progress of the study and to help review and report any cases involving adverse events to the project leads, who will report these to the University at Buffalo Institutional Review Board.

Minimum of two years supervised clinical experience

Willingness to participate in a trauma-informed psychoeducational program for the childbearing year.

Ability to bill for services as private practitioner

Must have good communication, and good organizational, documentation, and time management skills.

Strong ethical standards and confidentiality practices

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Must have valid NYS Driver’s License and be able to operate motor vehicle and have own transportation.
