Commercial HVAC & Electrical Service Technician

All Experience Levels Considered | $23 - $42 per hour

Iskalo Development Corp. is seeking a skilled HVAC/Electrical Service Technician to support the maintenance and performance of a diverse portfolio of commercial, retail, and residential properties across Erie and Niagara Counties. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who excels at diagnosing and troubleshooting building systems, working independently in the field, and ensuring mechanical and electrical systems operate safely and efficiently.

This is an in-house position—you’ll work on our portfolio, not chase service calls across town. You’ll see the same buildings, systems, and tenants over time, with less windshield time and a greater opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting impact on our properties.

We are open to candidates at multiple experience levels—apprentice through senior/master technician—with compensation, scope, and title aligned to experience.

What You'll Do

Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, VAV/VRF systems, controls, and building automation.

Diagnose and repair electrical systems including lighting, panels, controls, motors, and emergency power equipment.

Respond to tenant work orders and emergency calls across our portfolio of office, medical, industrial, and retail buildings in Western New York.

Maintain accurate service records, equipment logs, and PM schedules in our work order system.

Identify and recommend repairs, retrofits, or capital projects that improve building performance, tenant comfort, and energy efficiency.

Coordinate with outside vendors and specialty contractors when work is outside our scope.

Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours emergencies.

What We're Looking For

We hire for skill, attitude, and reliability. The specifics below describe what each level looks like — apply at whatever level fits your experience.

Senior / Master Technician (7+ years)

Deep experience troubleshooting and servicing commercial HVAC and electrical systems across multiple building types.
Comfortable working independently, mentoring junior techs, and leading larger repair or retrofit projects.
Strong with controls and BAS systems (Honeywell, Johnson, Andover, etc.).
Master Electrician license a plus.

Journeyman / Mid-Level (3–7 years)

Solid hands-on experience with commercial HVAC service and basic-to-intermediate electrical work.
Confident diagnosing common issues and completing PM and repair work with limited supervision.
Familiar with rooftop units, split systems, and pumps; controls experience a plus.

Apprentice / Junior (0–3 years)

Trade school graduate, recent apprenticeship completer, or someone with 1–2 seasons of commercial HVAC or electrical experience.
Eager to learn, reliable, and ready to grow under experienced techs.
Mechanically inclined with strong work ethic — we'll teach the rest.

Requirements (All Levels)

EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (refrigerant handling).
OSHA 10 minimum; OSHA 30 preferred (we'll get you there if you're not yet certified).
Valid New York State driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders and rooftops, and access mechanical and electrical spaces.
Strong communication skills — you'll be on tenant floors and in occupied spaces, including medical offices.
Reliable, professional, and able to represent our company well in front of tenants.

Nice to Have

NATE certification.
NYS Master Electrician or municipal equivalent.
Experience with medical office buildings, including after-hours HVAC programming and infection-control awareness.
BAS / controls programming experience.
Boiler operator's license.
Refrigeration experience (walk-ins, supermarket, or process cooling).
