Full Job Description

Experienced Medical Assistant Wanted for Busy Private Dermatology Practice

Fiore Dermatology is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our busy private dermatology practice in San Carlos. We are looking for someone with at least three years of recent clinical experience who is confident working in a fast-paced physician office, enjoys providing outstanding patient care, and works well as part of a collaborative team.

Our Physician Assistant has been an integral part of our practice for over 15 years, reflecting the supportive work environment and long-term relationships we value. We are looking for someone who is interested in becoming a valued member of our team for years to come.

Dermatology experience is strongly preferred, but we also welcome applicants with experience in other outpatient specialties.

Position Overview

This is primarily a back-office clinical position working closely with our Physician Assistant and physician. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to anticipate the provider's needs while maintaining excellent patient care.

Responsibilities include:

Rooming patients and obtaining medical histories
Preparing patients for examinations and procedures
Assisting with skin biopsies, cryotherapy, and other dermatologic procedures
Preparing instruments and maintaining sterile technique
Processing pathology specimens
Providing patient education and post-procedure instructions
Documenting accurately in the electronic medical record
Maintaining exam rooms and clinical supplies
Assisting with occasional front-office duties as needed
Obtaining prior authorizations

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum of 3 years of recent Medical Assistant experience in a physician office
Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to multitask in a busy outpatient practice
Professional, dependable, and punctual
Reliable transportation and the ability to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts beginning at 8:30 AM

Preferred:

Dermatology experience
Experience in another procedural specialty such as plastic surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, family medicine, or another outpatient specialty
A commute of approximately 30 minutes or less to our San Carlos office is strongly preferred.

Please note: Externships, school clinical rotations, and classroom training do not satisfy the minimum experience requirement for this position.

Schedule

Monday-Thursday, some Fridays
Typically 8:30 AM-4:30 PM
Occasional overtime as needed
No weekend hours
