Registered Nurse (RN) – Immunization Nurse Float (Vaccination Initiative)

Location: Brookline, MA 02446
Worksite: Retail Pharmacy & Community Healthcare Setting
Job Type: Full-Time | Contract
Contract Duration: August 23, 2026 – November 30, 2026
Schedule: 40 Hours per Week | 8 Hours per Day
Shift: Sunday – Saturday | 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Flexible Scheduling Required)
Setting: Onsite | Patient-Facing Role

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Immunization Nurse Float to support a large-scale community vaccination initiative in a retail healthcare setting. The RN will administer a wide variety of CDC-recommended immunizations while providing exceptional patient care, education, and clinical support. This position requires flexibility to work varying schedules and deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality vaccination services.

Key Responsibilities

Administer immunizations including Influenza (Flu), COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis A & B, Tdap, HPV, Shingles (Zoster), Pneumococcal, RSV, and other CDC-recommended vaccines.
Perform patient assessments prior to vaccination and review medical history for contraindications.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions following immunization and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Educate patients on vaccine benefits, potential side effects, and post-vaccination care.
Maintain accurate documentation of vaccinations in electronic health records and immunization registries.
Follow CDC, OSHA, state, and company infection control and safety protocols.
Ensure proper vaccine storage, handling, and cold-chain management.
Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and clinic staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining professionalism.
Support daily clinic operations and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Assist with medication administration as required within RN scope of practice.
Adapt quickly to changing clinic needs and patient volumes.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.
Demonstrate flexibility to float between assigned retail clinic locations when required.

Required Qualifications

Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in immunization, public health, ambulatory care, occupational health, or primary care.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Experience administering multiple adult and pediatric vaccines.
Excellent patient assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Must not appear on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
High School Diploma/GED required (verification required).

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in retail pharmacy, community health, or vaccination clinics.
Experience with mass immunization campaigns.
Knowledge of CDC Adult and Childhood Immunization Schedules.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
