Friends of the Bantam Jeep Association (FBJA) Director Job Description

Job Description

The Friends of the Bantam Jeep Association (FBJA) Director is responsible for leading and managing the overall operations of the organization as prescribed by Board of Directors. The Director position requires a leader who will oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, event planning, program development, fundraising, marketing, daily financial management/oversight; ensuring that the organization operates efficiently and effectively to meet its mission. In addition to internal management, the Director often serves as the face of the organization, building relationships with stakeholders, donors, policymakers, and the community.

FBJA Director Responsibilities & Duties

1. The Director Reports to the President for day-to-day operations and is responsible for implementing Board policies and managing daily operations. In addition, the Director will carry out the Board’s vision, develop/recommend policies for Board approval, and administer Board-approved budgets.

2. Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the administration of the organization and is responsible for making operational decisions necessary to accomplish organizational objectives consistent with the policies established by the Board of Directors and FBJA By Laws.

3. This position is expected to work 40 hours per week throughout the year. Because the Festival is the organization's signature event, the Director is expected to work the additional hours necessary before, during, and immediately following the Festival to successfully plan, coordinate, execute, and evaluate the event. Weekly hours will fluctuate throughout the year based upon organizational needs, fundraising activities, meetings, deadlines, and special events.

4. Develop and implement programs and services that align with the organization's objectives.

5. Oversee financial management, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.

6. Lead fundraising efforts, including event planning, marketing, securing grants and donations from various sources.

7. Direct and supervise employees, contractors, and volunteers; participate in the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, and retention of personnel and volunteers.

8. Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community members.

9. Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

10. Develop, recommend, implement, and administer organizational policies, procedures, and operational practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness, subject to Board approval when required.

11. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, adjusting as needed.

12. Representing the organization at community events, meetings, and conferences.

13. Advocate for the organization’s mission and programs to policymakers and public.

14. Prepare and present reports to Board of Directors.

15. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors that are consistent with the position of Director and necessary to accomplish the vision, mission and objectives of the Friends of the Bantam Jeep Association as established by the Board of Directors and By-Laws of the FBJA.

FBJA Director Qualifications & Skills

1. Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible professional experience.

2. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership or management experience in a nonprofit organization, association, tourism, event management, fundraising, or a related field.

3. Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor development, sponsorship acquisition, grant writing, and revenue generation.

4. Experience preparing and administering organizational budgets and interpreting financial statements.

5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using accounting, donor management (CRM), event management, and database software.

6. Working knowledge of nonprofit governance, financial reporting, employment practices, and applicable federal, state, and local laws affecting nonprofit organizations.

7. Excellent written, verbal, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.

8. Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors.

9. Experience planning, coordinating, or managing large public events or community festivals is highly desirable.

10. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, extended hours during Festival activities, and occasional travel as organizational needs require.

11. Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently with minimal supervision.

12. Experience in strategic planning and organizational development.

13. Capacity to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

14. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

15. Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, and community partners.

16. Experience in program development and evaluation.

17. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

18. Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.

19. Interest in or appreciation for automotive, heritage tourism, outdoor recreation, or community-based event programming is desirable.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
