The Senior Manager, Supply Chain is a key member of the Supply Chain leadership team, with functional responsibility for service performance, inventory management, network deployment, and import/export activities. This role is critical to achieving target service levels by ensuring finished goods availability—delivering the right product, at the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantity—while maintaining optimal inventory levels to effectively manage working capital. The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration across Distribution & Warehousing, Supply Planning, and Demand Planning to drive alignment, enhance operational performance, and deliver best-in-class supply chain results.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Service: Ensures customer orders are executed and delivered on time and in full (OTIF), consistently meeting or exceeding established service level and customer expectations through inventory and customer direct deployment strategies.
- Coordinates closely with supply planning, logistics, and customer service teams to align inventory availability, production schedules, and transportation capacity with customer demand. Manages order prioritization and allocation decisions during constrained situations to optimize service outcomes and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Inventory: Defines and maintains optimal inventory targets across the network by balancing service level objectives, working capital constraints, and supply variability. Develops and implements robust inventory management policies—including safety stock, MTO/MTS based on demand variability, lead times, and risk profiles.
- Continuously monitors inventory performance against defined targets (e.g., days of supply, fill rate, inventory turns, excess and obsolete levels), proactively identifying and addressing deviations through root cause analysis and corrective actions. Leads initiatives to optimize inventory positioning and deployment across distribution centers and locations to improve product availability while minimizing carrying costs.
- Collaborates closely with supply planning, demand planning, sales, and logistics teams to ensure alignment between inventory strategies and operational execution. Adjusts inventory parameters in response to changes in demand patterns, supply disruptions, product lifecycle stages, or business priorities.
- Implements and enhances tools, systems, and governance processes to improve inventory visibility, accuracy, and control. Drives continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing obsolescence, improving forecast alignment, and enhancing overall supply chain efficiency.
- Supports scenario planning and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring appropriate buffer levels are in place to absorb variability while maintaining responsiveness to customer demand and minimizing excess inventory exposure.
- Controls and manages Floor Stock Agreements with Sales and Finance.
- Deployment: Oversees the movement of inventory from factories to distribution centers and directly to customers, coordinating with external transportation partners. Drives efficient inventory deployment across the network by aligning transportation plans with demand, supply, and distribution strategies. Monitors and analyzes key transportation KPIs (e.g., on-time delivery, cost per unit, capacity utilization, transit times), and identifies continuous improvement opportunities to enhance service levels and reduce costs.
- Transportation: Leads and manages day-to-day transportation operations in coordination with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, ensuring reliable and cost-effective service execution across the distribution network.
- Provides critical input to the annual transportation procurement and tendering process, including lane strategy, carrier selection, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with transportation providers, ensuring performance accountability, contract compliance, and proactive issue resolution. Collaborates cross-functionally with planning, customer service, finance and warehouse teams to address capacity constraints, mitigate disruptions, changes in the market pricing and trends (i.e. total cost, fuel or fleet availability, others) and improve overall supply chain performance.
- Leads initiatives to optimize network flows, enhance routing and mode selection, and improve visibility and tracking capabilities. Supports risk management and contingency planning to ensure business continuity, particularly during peak demand periods or supply disruptions.
- Import/Export/Customs: Ensures adherence to end-to-end supply planning and execution processes to support the timely and compliant fulfillment of imported finished goods.
- Oversees international logistics operations, including coordination of ocean, air, and intermodal transportation, while optimizing cost, lead time, and service levels across global supply routes.
- Manages all customs and import/export compliance activities, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations, trade agreements, and internal policies. Works closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory agencies to ensure accurate documentation, proper tariff classification, duty optimization, and timely clearance of goods. Identifies and mitigates compliance risks, including audits, penalties, and shipment delays.
- Coordinates export activities and cross-border movements, ensuring proper licensing, documentation, and adherence to origin and destination country requirements.
- Monitors and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to international logistics and customs performance (e.g., on-time delivery, clearance cycle time, duty spend, freight cost), driving continuous improvement initiatives. Strengthens relationships with logistics providers and trade partners to ensure high service performance, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the global supply chain.
- New Product Development: Leads cross-functional coordination across supply chain, operations, R&D, procurement, and commercial teams to ensure new product initiatives are successfully planned, executed, and launched on schedule. Establishes clear timelines, manages risks, and ensures supply readiness to support seamless product introductions and optimal customer service from day one.
Food Waste: Drives the management of slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory to minimize write-offs and reduce waste. Implements proactive strategies to optimize product lifecycle management, improve inventory rotation, and achieve inefficiency targets as a percentage of sales. Conducts root cause analysis and partners with cross-functional teams to prevent recurrence.
