Full Job Description

Location: Rochester, NY

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Controller

About the Company:

We are a mid-size, dynamic loan servicer and investor. Our company oversees numerous LLCs and corporations with tax nexus in multiple states and U.S. Territories. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant to join our team and help streamline our accounting processes, enhance compliance, and support financial reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Management

Maintain general ledger accounts for multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely entries.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal use and external stakeholders.
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for all managed entities.
Reconcile bank accounts, investment accounts, and intercompany transactions.

Tax Compliance and Coordination

Collaborate with external auditors and tax preparers to ensure accurate and timely filing of audited financial statements and tax returns for operating company and investment partnership entities
Assist in gathering and organizing documentation for annual tax preparation.
Monitor and update compliance with state and local tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Audit and Reporting

Serve as a point of contact for auditors, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
Assist in implementing and maintaining best practices for audit readiness and compliance.

Process Improvement

Evaluate and update accounting procedures and workflows to improve efficiency and compliance.
Develop and document policies and processes to support internal controls.
Implement technology solutions to streamline accounting and reporting functions.

Investor Support

Prepare financial reports and schedules for private equity investors and fund participants.
Respond to investor inquiries in coordination with the senior accounting team.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred, but not required).
3–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably with experience in private equity, investment management, or multi-entity environments.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and multi-state tax compliance.
Experience interfacing with auditors and tax preparers.
Proficiency in accounting software (Acumatica or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing accounting for multiple entity types and companies with multiple subsidiary entities.
Familiarity with private fund reporting and investor relations.
Exposure to multi-state tax nexus considerations and compliance requirements.
