Full Job Description

Ohana Recovery is seeking a passionate and dependable Interim Female Chef to join our team for a 12-week assignment, beginning September 8. This full-time, Monday through Friday position plays an essential role in creating nutritious, high-quality meals that support our clients' recovery journey. Ohana Recovery in Agoura Hills is a women-only residential treatment center providing a safe, supportive environment for recovery and healing.

If you enjoy preparing fresh meals, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and making a positive impact through food, we'd love to hear from you. This is a great opportunity for a chef who thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking for a meaningful temporary position.

POSITION SUMMARY: Chef is responsible for ensuring all clients are provided with proper nutrition throughout their stay. This includes all daily meals, and meal supplements based upon nutrition needs. Chef is responsible for maintaining a food service environment which meets all regulating requirements of the Department of Healthcare Services and the Joint Commission. This position also requires the ability to effectively communicate with clients to determine any dietary needs they have and adjusting meals based upon these restrictions. Chef will shop for kitchen needs within budget.

The Chef needs to be motivated, spirited, and able to function well within a team environment. They would need to work well with both co-workers and clients. This position requires flexibility, time management, and the ability to initiate tasks with little supervision.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must possess professional culinary skills.

· Must have the ability to prioritize and organize varied/multiple tasks.

· Excellent time management and organizational skills.

· Must be able to work independently and take initiative to complete tasks.

· Must possess excellent people skills.

· Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

· Compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

· Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

· Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices.

· Knowledge of and experience in preparation of special dietary foods.

· Ability to work within a budget.

DAILY DUTIES: Reporting to the agency’s Program Director, Chef is responsible for the following:

· Oversee daily operations of the treatment facility’s food and dining services.

· Manage the preparation of meals, snacks, and picnics through direct preparation and/or supervising the work of other employees.

· Cook meals, portion meats, vegetables, salads, and other meal items. Bake, wash, and carve.

· Accommodate special diets including gluten free, dairy free, nut free as needed.

· Write menu plans and compile routine reports in accordance with the Joint Commission Standards.

· Ensure safe and efficient preparation and serving of meals.

· Prep weekend food menus and ingredients and leave detailed instructions for clients and staff.

· Oversee the inventory and purchasing of food, equipment, and supplies, and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of the treatment center kitchen, its equipment, and facilities.

· Maintain Inventory of food.

· Follow proper food storage protocols in accordance with the Joint Commission standards.

· Order food and kitchen supplies consistent with menus and enrollment counts (number of clients).

· Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.

· Clean and maintain all food-service areas, including kitchen, dining room, storage, kitchen recycling.

· Inspect equipment and coordinate/ensure equipment is repaired as necessary.

· Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as much as possible.

· Reports directly to Program Director.

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Program Director.
