Position Summary
EN-RICH-MENT is a non-profit arts education organization committed to enriching lives through accessible, high-quality instruction in music, dance, theater, visual arts, and other creative disciplines for individuals of all ages and abilities. As an affiliate of Bluecoats, EN-RICH-MENT subleases the EN-RICH-MENT Arts Education Center from Bluecoats and benefits from a collaborative partnership that includes shared board representation and a close working relationship with the Bluecoats CEO and CFO.
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, administration, and operational success of EN-RICH-MENT. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership, oversees staff and organizational finances, ensures program effectiveness, leads fundraising and resource development efforts, and implements the strategic direction established by the Board.
The Executive Director works closely with Founder and Community & External Relations Officer Betty M. Smith, who serves as the organization's primary public ambassador and community advocate. Together, they support the mission of EN-RICH-MENT through community engagement, partnership development, fundraising, advocacy, and program support.
The ideal candidate is a mission-driven leader who is passionate about serving children, youth, and families; developing staff; building sustainable systems; cultivating community partnerships; and ensuring the long-term success of the organization. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with children, youth, and families from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities, developmental differences, behavioral health needs, and other unique support needs.
Essential Responsibilities
● Provide day-to-day leadership and management of EN-RICH-MENT operations.
● Implement strategic goals and objectives established by the Board of Directors.
● Lead strategic planning initiatives and organizational development efforts in partnership with the Board of Directors.
● Ensure organizational activities align with the mission, vision, and values of EN-RICH-MENT.
● Develop and maintain effective policies, procedures, and operational practices.
● Identify opportunities for organizational growth, innovation, and continuous improvement.
● Provide regular reports to the Board regarding organizational performance, finances, programs, fundraising activities, and strategic initiatives.
● Support Board committees, organizational initiatives, and special projects as assigned.
● Serve as the primary organizational leader responsible for translating strategic priorities into measurable outcomes.
Staff Leadership and Development
● Recruit, hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate staff.
● Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.
● Establish performance expectations and accountability measures.
● Support professional development opportunities for employees.
● Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet organizational goals and service delivery needs.
● Promote employee engagement, leadership development, and organizational excellence.
Financial Management
● Develop and manage the annual operating budget.
● Monitor organizational finances and ensure fiscal responsibility.
● Provide accurate financial reporting to the Board of Directors.
● Ensure compliance with all financial policies, grant requirements, and reporting obligations.
● Develop financial strategies that support long-term organizational sustainability.
● Work collaboratively with the Board and fundraising partners to support organizational growth and fiscal health.
Program Oversight
● Ensure all programs and services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
● Monitor program outcomes, performance metrics, and organizational impact.
● Evaluate program effectiveness and implement continuous improvement strategies.
● Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, funding requirements, and accreditation standards.
● Identify opportunities to expand, enhance, and strengthen programs and services based on community needs and organizational priorities.
● Ensure programs and services are responsive to the diverse needs of children, youth, and families, including individuals with disabilities, developmental differences, behavioral health needs, and other barriers to success.
● Promote a culture of inclusion, accessibility, and equity throughout all organizational programs and services. Fundraising and Resource Development
● Lead the development and implementation of fundraising strategies that support organizational sustainability and growth.
● Identify, pursue, and cultivate funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, donations, and strategic partnerships.
● Oversee grant development, grant management, reporting requirements, and compliance activities.
● Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, Community & External Relations Officer, donors, sponsors, and community partners to increase organizational resources and support.
● Develop donor stewardship and engagement strategies that strengthen long-term community investment in EN-RICH-MENT.
● Monitor fundraising performance and recommend strategies to increase revenue and organizational sustainability.
● Support fundraising events and community-based resource development initiatives Board Relations
● Serve as the primary staff liaison.
Board of Directors.
● Support Board committees and organizational initiatives.
● Prepare reports, recommendations, and information needed for Board decision-making.
● Partner with the Board to implement strategic priorities and organizational goals.
● Provide information and recommendations to support effective governance and long-term planning.
Community and Partner Engagement
● Develop and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, funders, government agencies, and stakeholders.
● Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, disability service providers, family support organizations, community agencies, and other stakeholders that support children, youth, and families.
● Represent EN-RICH-MENT at meetings, events, and community functions as needed.
● Work collaboratively with the Founder and Community & External Relations Officer to strengthen organizational visibility and impact.
● Monitor community needs, emerging trends, funding opportunities, and stakeholder priorities to inform organizational planning and decision-making.
● Lead efforts to develop strategic partnerships that support organizational growth, program expansion, and mission advancement.
● Strengthen relationships that increase opportunities for participants, families, and community partners.
Compliance and Risk Management
● Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
● Maintain organizational records and required reporting.
● Protect organizational assets and ensure sound risk management practices.
● Ensure confidentiality and ethical standards are upheld throughout the organization.
● Monitor organizational policies and practices to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications Required
● Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Services, Education, Human Services, or a related field.
● Minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership or management experience.
● Experience supervising staff and managing organizational operations.
● Experience developing and managing budgets.
● Experience working with children, youth, and families from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities, developmental disabilities, neurodiverse individuals, and those requiring additional educational, behavioral, or social supports.
● Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
● Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
● Experience building partnerships and working collaboratively with community organizations.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business technology.
Preferred
● Master's degree in a related field.
● Nonprofit leadership experience.
● Grant writing, grant management, and fundraising experience.
● Experience working with Boards of Directors.
● Experience in program development, evaluation, and strategic planning.
● Experience working with community-based youth programs, educational systems, disability service organizations, family support services, or related human service programs.
● Knowledge of non-profit governance, community-based services, and nonprofit operations.

Reporting Relationship Reports directly to the Board of Directors through the Board Chair. Works collaboratively with the Founder and Community & External Relations Officer, who supports the work of the ED to advance organizational visibility, fundraising efforts, strategic partnerships, and mission impact.
Compensation
Salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 annually, commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated leadership in the nonprofit, arts, education, or community development sectors. The organization also provides a competitive benefits package, with benefits and overall compensation designed to be commensurate with experience. Specific benefit details will be discussed with finalists during the interview process.
