Join Our Team as an OR Circulator!

Advanced Surgery Center of Fort Myers is a modern ambulatory surgery center proudly serving Southwest Florida. Our facility is dedicated to delivering high-quality surgical care through advanced technology, experienced clinical staff, and a commitment to exceptional patient outcomes.

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated OR Circulator to join our exceptional surgical team. As an integral part of our Operating Room (OR), you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective care to patients throughout their surgical experience. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with talented professionals, and contribute to positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Know the name, use and location of medications, supplies and equipment used in the operating room, recovery room, the instrument processing areas and storage.
Familiar with the use of operating room equipment including but not limited to table, lights, cautery unit, laser, suction, SCDs, crash cart, EKG monitor, defibrillator, etc.
Familiar with organizational policies and procedures.
Ensure regular operating room and recovery room equipment maintenance and servicing, according to established policies.
Understand the duties of the surgeon, the anesthesia provider and the supportstaff, within the organization.
Understand all duties and functions of the pre/post-operative nurse, recovery room nurse, circulating nurse, and scrub nurse technician.
Know the facility layout and the purpose of the various departments: reception and administration area, dressing rooms, clean and dirty utility room, operating room, recovery room, patient waiting room and consultation areas.
Ensure compliance with regulations and the facility's standards of quality patient care.
Assist in the operating room set-up with the necessary supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure.
Assist in the operating room clean-up and decontamination after each surgery.
Handle and dispose of Biomedical Waste according to policies and procedures.
Assist physician in completing the pre-operative interview consultation and assess a variety of patient needs.
Assist physician with all examinations.
Familiar with all forms and documents used in the operating room, the recovery room and patient's chart.
Complete and maintain the medical records and verify information and orders, pre-operative and post-operative.
Process and send specimens to the lab.
Communicate and interpret physician's instructions to patients.
Assist physician during surgery. Ensure a smooth flow in the operating room.
Follow strict traffic control and maintain sterile environment in the operating room and recovery room.
Circulate between the operating room theaters and act as a liaison between the operating room staff and the rest of the suite, as designated.
Maintain strict aseptic technique at all times.
Adhere to operating room/office dress code policy.
Perform accurate operating room records.
Transport instruments and surgical trays according to established policies and procedures.
Inventory stock and order supplies.
Assist in identifying and resolving operational problems.
Inventory stock medications.
Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliation.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
Knowledge of surgical and medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe environment for patients and staff.
Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professionalism to provide ongoing patient care.
Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports.
Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
Ability to maintain Quality Control standards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and to carry out orders quickly and effectively.
Ability to follow and understand a surgical procedure and anticipate the surgeons needs. Ability to work effectively as a team member within the organization.

Requirements:

Valid Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN, with previous experience as an OR Circulator a MUST.
BLS and ACLS certifications (current and maintained).
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety.

Part Time, PRN
