Automotive Sales Manager

Washington, DC Metropolitan Area

A high-volume automotive dealership in the Washington, DC metropolitan area is seeking an experienced Automotive Sales Manager to join its growing leadership team. The ideal candidate has prior dealership sales management experience, performs well in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about developing sales professionals, improving processes, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This opportunity is well suited for a results-driven leader who values accountability, teamwork, and long-term career growth.

Position Responsibilities

The Automotive Sales Manager will help lead the dealership’s day-to-day new and pre-owned vehicle sales operations.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead and support daily new and pre-owned vehicle sales operations
Train, coach, motivate, and develop Sales Consultants
Establish and maintain effective sales processes that drive consistent performance
Monitor sales activity, closing ratios, gross profit, customer satisfaction, and other key performance indicators
Assist sales professionals with deal structuring, negotiations, and closing
Provide ongoing performance feedback and individual coaching
Collaborate with dealership leadership and other members of the sales management team
Ensure all sales agreements and required documentation are completed accurately
Confirm completed deals are submitted promptly to the Finance Department
Maintain appropriate follow-up and customer communication standards
Promote a positive, professional, and customer-focused dealership culture
Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable regulations
Support departmental goals for sales volume, profitability, and customer retention

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have:

Previous automotive dealership sales management experience
Experience overseeing pre-owned vehicle sales is preferred
Strong leadership, coaching, and employee-development skills
Proven automotive sales, negotiation, structuring, and closing abilities
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience using automotive CRM and dealership management systems
A results-driven mindset with a strong sense of accountability
A professional appearance and strong work ethic
The ability to remain organized and effective in a fast-paced dealership environment
A positive attitude and team-oriented leadership style
A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
