Travel Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D) / Med-Surg Float

Location: Crookston, MN

Schedule: 3x12 Day Shift | 07:00 – 19:00 (36 Hours/Week)

Contract Type: Travel Assignment

Position Overview

The Travel Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery provides direct clinical care for obstetric patients across the labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum continuum. Based in Crookston, MN, this role requires high clinical adaptability, combining specialized intrapartum care with floating duties to Medical-Surgical units as operational needs dictate. The RN works collaboratively with physicians, certified nurse-midwives, and interdisciplinary support teams to maintain patient safety, execute evidence-based protocols, and deliver family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

Obstetric & Labor Care

Maternal & Fetal Monitoring: Continuously evaluate maternal-fetal status, interpret fetal heart rate tracings, and manage pain relief interventions during labor.

Emergency Response: Swiftly identify and manage obstetric emergencies in accordance with established hospital protocols and physician directives.

Perinatal Support: Assist with delivery, perform immediate newborn stabilization, and deliver comprehensive postpartum care.

Patient Education: Educate patients and families on labor progression, pain management strategies, postpartum recovery, and discharge instructions.

Med-Surg Float & General Care

Unit Floating: Flexibly float to Medical-Surgical units when assigned, delivering skilled nursing care, medication administration, and monitoring for general med-surg patient populations.

Assessment & Documentation: Perform systematic nursing assessments, maintain accurate electronic medical documentation, and adhere strictly to infection control standards.

Care Coordination: Collaborate effectively with attending physicians, midwives, and support staff to ensure seamless patient transitions between L&D, postpartum, and med-surg units.

Position Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements

RN Licensure: Active Minnesota RN License or active Compact/Multi-State RN License.

Core Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Perinatal Certifications: Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Clinical Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of recent acute care experience in Labor & Delivery, along with comfort floating to Medical-Surgical units.

Preferred Qualifications

Facility Experience: Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience preferred.

Fetal Monitoring: Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (e.g., C-EFM through NCC or AWHONN intermediate/advanced coursework).

Travel Experience: Prior travel nursing experience in rural or community hospital settings.

Pay: From $3,100.00 per week
